About Northeast Health Wangaratta
Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) is a 228-bed regional health service supporting more than 100,000 people. As the major referral hospital in the region, NHW provides a wide range of services and is known for its supportive culture and commitment to developing junior doctors.
Inside the Emergency Department
The ED sees 80–110 presentations per day, giving HMOs exposure to a broad variety of cases. Facilities include:
A recently upgraded Emergency Department
An 8-bed Short Stay Unit
A dedicated Paediatric Ward with 8 single rooms
You’ll work closely with Registrars, CMOs, and senior staff specialists, gaining valuable exposure while being supported in a structured environment.
The Role
Position: ED HMO (PGY3+)
Rates: $115–$200 per hour (crisis rates available)
Shift Times: 08:00–17:30 | 14:00–23:30 | 22:30–08:30
Requirements: Recent ED experience and ALS2 certification
Upcoming Shifts
September 2025 – Day shifts on 18–19 Sept; night block 26–30 Sept; evening/SSU shifts across 27–28 Sept
October 2025 – Night block 4–8 Oct; additional night shifts 25–31 Oct
November 2025 – Mixed shifts 1–2 Nov, including SSU, evenings, and nights
