Prescript Recruitment is seeking experienced Rural Generalists and ED SMOs for locum cover at Young District Hospital in regional NSW.
This is a practical, well-paid rural hospital opportunity with plenty of choice across ED day shifts, ED night shifts and ward / general medicine cover.
It is suited to doctors who are confident in rural ED and inpatient medicine, enjoy variety in their work, and want the flexibility to choose blocks that fit around existing commitments.
Young is an easy regional base for a locum. Start the day with coffee at one of the local cafés, walk along Burrangong Creek between shifts, and finish with dinner in town or a quiet evening in the Hilltops wine region. It is regional NSW without feeling isolated.

Young is in the Hilltops region of NSW, around:
2 hours from Canberra
2 hours from Wagga Wagga
Around 5 hours from Sydney by road
The Roles Available
You can choose from three main types of cover.
ED Day Shifts
Shift time: 0700–1900
Rate: $2,750 per shift
Last-minute rate: $3,000 per shift
Busy rural ED work, supporting the department through higher-demand periods.
ED Night Shifts
Shift time: 1900–0700
Rate: $2,750 per shift
Last-minute rate: $3,000 per shift
Overnight ED coverage for doctors comfortable working independently in a rural hospital setting.
Ward / General Medicine Cover
Rate: $3,000 per day
Ward rounds, inpatient management and support to ED when required. Some blocks include after-hours on-call for ward patients.

Requirements
FRACGP or FACRRM or recent ED and/or ward experience
Current AHPRA registration
Confidence working independently in a rural hospital setting
A steady, collaborative approach with local ED, ward and nursing teams
