These roles offer doctors the opportunity to work in structured clinical environments, delivering primary healthcare and coordinated care to patients within the correctional system.
Flexible shifts are available across metro Melbourne and regional Victoria, making these placements suitable for doctors seeking occasional shifts, short blocks, or ongoing locum work.

The Role
GP / Medical Officer – Correctional Health
In these roles, you can expect to:
Provide primary healthcare services within correctional facilities
Assess and manage a broad range of acute and chronic conditions
Work alongside experienced nursing and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
Deliver care within well-structured clinical environments
Contribute to continuity of care for patients within the correctional health system
Shifts generally operate between 08:00 and 19:00, depending on the facility.
Locations & Shift Patterns
Shifts are available across several correctional healthcare sites in metro Melbourne and regional Victoria, offering flexibility to choose locations and dates that suit your schedule.
Key locations include:
West Melbourne – Melbourne Assessment Prison (varied shift times including 08:00–16:00, 09:00–17:00 and 11:00–19:00)
Ravenhall – Melbourne Remand Centre and Ravenhall Correctional Centre (typically 09:00–17:00 shifts)
Lara – Marngoneet and Western Plains Correctional Centres (typically 09:00–17:00 shifts)
Langi Kal Kal – regional correctional facility with weekday 09:00–17:00 sessions
Multiple shifts are available across April and May 2026, with flexible options ranging from individual days through to short blocks.

Rates & Benefits
Hourly rates:
$150 per hour – Medical Officer
$180 per hour – Senior Medical Officer (OSTP approved)
+$30 per hour weekend uplift
$230 per hour public holiday rate
Additional support includes:
Weekly payroll (inclusive of super) or PTY Ltd invoicing
Travel allowance of $0.88/km for regional work
