Prescript Recruitment is currently supporting several regional hospital emergency departments located within approximately 1–1.5 hours of Brisbane.

These Rural Generalist and ED SMO locum opportunities are ideal for doctors with strong emergency department experience who are looking for flexible GP/ED hospital work close to Brisbane, without the need for long-distance rural travel.

Available shifts are across Gatton, Boonah, Laidley and Esk, all within easy reach of Brisbane. Doctors can nominate single shifts, selected dates, or longer blocks across late June and July 2026.

These are regional hospital GP/ED settings, rather than tertiary hospitals. The roles suit doctors who are confident managing emergency presentations and who enjoy practical, community-focused medicine in supported regional environments.

Requirements

To be considered for these Rural Generalist and ED SMO locum jobs near Brisbane, you will need:

Current AHPRA registration
Rural Generalist or ED SMO experience
GP Specialist or Non-Specialist background
Emergency Department experience
Eligibility for credentialing
Completion of mandatory ieMR training before commencement

Please note: mandatory ieMR training is required and usually involves two full days on the Monday and Tuesday before commencement.
