Things to Do on Norfolk Island
When you’re off-duty, Norfolk Island offers a rich mix of nature, history and serenity. A few of our favourites for locum doctors seeking both rejuvenation and adventure:
Snorkel or swim in the turquoise waters at Emily Bay – the sheltered lagoon gives you almost instant access to coral gardens from the sand.
Hike to iconic lookouts such as Mount Pitt or the Captain Cook Lookout for sweeping views of cliffs and coast.
Explore the Kingston and Arthur’s Vale Historic Area (KAVHA), a UNESCO World Heritage convict site — feel the layered history of the island as you wander the old gaol ruins and heritage buildings.
Go on a relaxed drive (car hire provided!) around the island’s 8×6 km area, wave at your fellow drivers (yes, the “Norfolk wave” is a thing!) and soak in the laid-back rhythm.
After your shifts, unwind with a sunset stroll, catch the beach, or join community events – you’ll find a perfect blend of professional contribution and island downtime.
