A Unique One-Day-Per-Week Opportunity in Brisbane

Prescript Recruitment is seeking a GP or suitably experienced Medical Officer to provide General Health Clinic cover within the Forensic and Secure Services Team at The Park – Centre for Mental Health in Wacol, Brisbane.

Open to fellowed and non-fellowed doctors, this is a rare opportunity to use your general medical skills within a specialist forensic mental health setting while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team.

With a commitment of just one day per week, the role could suit a doctor looking to complement an existing general practice, hospital position, study commitments or family responsibilities.

The Position

You will provide general medical and primary healthcare services to patients receiving care within Queensland’s specialist forensic mental health service.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing General Health Clinic consultations

  • Assessing and managing routine and ongoing physical health conditions

  • Supporting patients with complex physical and mental healthcare needs

  • Working collaboratively with psychiatry, nursing, allied health and other clinical teams

  • Contributing general medical expertise within a structured and well-supported facility

This is a general health position within a forensic mental health environment. You are not being recruited to work as a psychiatrist.

Dates Available

27 August – 27 October 2026

  • One day per week

  • Regular weekday commitment

  • Approximately nine weeks

  • Well suited to a Brisbane or South East Queensland-based doctor

Remuneration

  • Staff Specialist: $2,150 per day

  • Non-Specialist GP or Medical Officer: $1,600 per day

  • Full Prescript support throughout recruitment, onboarding and credentialing

Who Can Apply?

  • Fellowed GPs

  • Non-fellowed GPs

  • Suitably experienced Medical Officers

  • Staff Specialists with relevant general medical experience

You will require:

  • Current AHPRA registration

  • Relevant medical qualifications

  • Suitable general practice, hospital or Medical Officer experience

  • Ability to complete Queensland Health credentialing, onboarding and mandatory compliance requirements (Prescript will guide you through this)

Experience in mental health, custodial health, forensic health or caring for patients with complex health needs would be valuable but is not essential.

About The Park – Centre for Mental Health

The Park – Centre for Mental Health is a specialist mental health facility located in Wacol, approximately 20 kilometres south-west of Brisbane CBD.

The campus provides a range of specialist mental health services, including forensic and secure care, within an established multidisciplinary clinical environment.

This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to the physical healthcare of patients who may have complex and often underserved health needs.

Location

Wacol is located in Brisbane’s western suburbs and is easily accessible for doctors living across Brisbane, Ipswich and surrounding South East Queensland areas.
