Prescript Recruitment

Locum Rural Generalist Opportunities – First Access Through Our New RDWA Partnership

Prescript Recruitment is proud to be working with the Rural Doctors Workforce Agency (RDWA) — a respected organisation dedicated to building and sustaining strong, accessible healthcare across rural and remote South Australia.

This collaboration goes beyond recruitment. It’s about backing the GPs who keep rural communities running — and offering you the chance to step into well-supported, meaningful locum placements across the state.

RDWA runs an exceptional Locum Relief Program designed to support rural communities and the hardworking doctors who serve them. The program allows permanent GPs to take well-deserved leave, confident their patients are in the care of highly skilled, compassionate professionals. Unlike some other locum placements, these aren’t crisis or high-pressure postings. Instead, they’re well-organised, well-supported, and well-loved practices — simply in need of short-term cover for regular staff breaks.

And by becoming part of the Prescript doctor community, you’re getting first access before these roles are advertised more broadly.

The Position

We’re seeking experienced Locum Rural Generalists for short-term placements across South Australia. These roles are primarily based in GP clinics, with some requiring shared ED on-call coverage.

ED requirements vary by site. Some towns involve fewer hours but a more intense pace when you are called in. Others include 24/7 on-call with minimal overnight disruptions — often just one recall per night. This creates an excellent balance between variety and lifestyle, with clear expectations from the outset.

Where You Might Go

Placements are spread across some of South Australia’s most welcoming rural communities — including the Riverland, Yorke Peninsula, Eyre Peninsula, the Mid-Murray, and Outback regions. Many towns are an easy drive from Adelaide, with some accessible by direct flights.

Each location has its own rhythm — from coastal communities with relaxed beachside charm, to agricultural hubs with rich local histories and a strong sense of community. You’ll enjoy friendly local teams, a slower pace outside the clinic, and a genuine connection to the people you’re supporting.

And if you're based in South Australia, did you know two of the Prescript team are Adelaide-based? You're always welcome to visit our CBD office for a coffee or lunch — we'd love to connect in person.

Benefits Provided

  • Attractive daily rates, with additional incentives for procedural and high-demand placements

  • Travel, car and accommodation included

  • Fast Friday payments

  • First access to roles before they go public

  • Concierge-style logistics and credentialing support

  • Work with a team that values your time, skill and experience

What We Require From You

  • Current AHPRA specialists registration

  • Fellowship with RACGP or ACRRM

  • Strong primary care and emergency medicine skills

  • A collaborative, can-do attitude

  • Commitment to supporting rural communities with quality care

Welcome to Brewarrina—known fondly as “Bre” by the locals. A quiet riverside town rich in Aboriginal history, it’s home to the world’s oldest man-made structures: the Ngunnhu fish traps. It’s also a place where your skills as a doctor can have a meaningful impact.

For one week in April, you have the chance to be the heart of this community’s care. This isn’t just a locum role—it’s an opportunity to lead, support, and be part of something bigger.

You’ll have the space to practise true generalist medicine and the support to do it well.

Dates Available

14 April – 21 April 2025 (7 days)
Let us know if you’re interested in future blocks—we’ll keep you first in line.

Step Into Outback Medicine: Locum as a Rural Generalist in Warm, Welcoming Julia Creek

Make a meaningful impact in a well-supported hospital, while enjoying the lifestyle and warmth of remote Queensland.

At Prescript, we believe in placing doctors where they’re needed most — and where they’ll be supported to thrive. Julia Creek Hospital in outback Queensland is one of those places.

This is a locum opportunity for Rural Generalists who want to practise broad, meaningful medicine in a setting that values continuity, compassion, and clinical excellence. It’s also a chance to reconnect with the heart of healthcare — slower-paced, deeply human, and community-centred.

The Opportunity

Julia Creek Multi Purpose Health Service is a small, well-resourced Level 1 facility. You’ll join a capable and welcoming team that works closely to ensure seamless coverage and excellent support for incoming doctors.

You’ll work standard hours with on-call duties across the week, backed by strong telehealth support overnight. The facility includes residential aged care, short-stay inpatient beds, and a local palliative care service.

Role details:

  • Remote emergency support provided from 10:00 pm onwards

  • Mix of GP, emergency, aged care and palliative

This is a setting where your clinical judgment is trusted, your presence is appreciated, and you’ll be part of a team genuinely committed to rural healthcare.

Dates Available

We’re looking for doctors who are available between 5 May and 29 June 2025.
You can take on the full block or nominate one or more weeks — rosters are flexible and can be tailored to suit your availability.

What’s Included

We’ll arrange:

  • Comfortable accommodation in town

  • A fleet car for your stay

  • Return travel allowance

  • A seamless onboarding experience through our credentialing team

  • Ongoing contact and support throughout your placement

The Location

Julia Creek offers the kind of lifestyle that makes rural placements so appealing. With warm, dry weather (32°C in April), red earth sunsets, and a calm pace of life, it’s a place where you can breathe — and reconnect with the core of your profession.

Outside of work, explore artesian baths, visit local attractions like the Punchbowl Waterhole, or meet the endangered Julia Creek Dunnart at the town’s visitor centre. It’s a family-friendly location, with walking trails, parks, and regular Rex flights from Townsville making access simple.

What We’re Looking For

To be considered, you’ll need:

  • Current specialist registration with AHPRA

  • FRACGP or FACRRM

  • Experience in rural or remote settings preferred

  • A collaborative, community-minded approach to patient care

FACEM Locum in Burnie, Tasmania - High-Impact Emergency Medicine with Coastal Calm

At Prescript, we work with doctors who want to do more than just fill a shift. This is a locum opportunity where your clinical skills will have a direct impact—supporting a regional hospital that plays a vital role in its community, while giving you time and space to recharge by the coast.

We’re currently seeking a FACEM for flexible locum work at North West Regional Hospital in Burnie, Tasmania. Whether you’re looking for a quick two-day block or something longer, we’ll help you find the right fit—so you can focus on what matters most.

The Position

Burnie’s Emergency Department is part of a modern, 160-bed regional hospital that services Tasmania’s North West region and King Island. The ED team manages a wide range of presentations—from resus and trauma through to medical and minor injuries—with the support of solid infrastructure and well-established systems.

You’ll be joining a department that’s appropriately staffed and well run. Day shifts are supported by four FACEMs, with five to six ED Registrars or CMOs rostered across the 24-hour cycle. You’ll work alongside a collaborative team, with the right level of responsibility and support.

Dates Available

Shifts are available from 27 April to 24 May 2025, with a minimum booking of two to three shifts.

We can also help you identify blocks of shifts that allow time off to explore the region between clinical work.

Available shift times include:

  • 07:30 – 17:00 (standard or MOIC)

  • 14:00 – 23:30

  • 15:30 – 01:00 (MOIC) + on-call to 07:30 the following morning

What’s Included

We provide end-to-end support, with everything handled on your behalf:

  • $3,500 per day for standard shifts

  • $3,600 per day for MOIC shifts

  • Travel booked and paid for

  • Private accommodation arranged

  • Car hire included

Our team handles the logistics so you can focus on delivering quality care, not paperwork or planning.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be a FACEM with current AHPRA specialist registration, confident managing a variety of emergency presentations and comfortable working in a regional hospital environment. Previous experience in rural or remote settings is valued, but not essential.

We’re looking for doctors who care about doing high-quality work and making a genuine contribution to the communities they serve.

Next Steps

This is regional emergency medicine at its best—challenging, collaborative, well-supported, and based in a part of the country where you can truly unwind between shifts. Whether you're stepping away from a permanent role or just seeking a short-term change, we're here to help make it seamless.
