Locum Covid Virtual Ward Medical Officers – Queensland / Remote

The Position

With the developing Covid situation in Queensland, health services are urgently seeking assistance from Medical Officers (PGY2+ through to GP Fellows) for their newly initiated virtual Covid wards. There are multiple positions available at several public health services, with the potential to work remotely if you cannot attend in person. This is an excellent ongoing opportunity to provide relieving services in a locum capacity at this critical time, your assistance is highly appreciated!

You will be overseeing the care of Covid positive patients in home quarantine/isolation in a telehealth capacity, reviewing moderate-risk patients, monitoring for deterioration and admitting to the physical wards when necessary. Scriptwriting, patient data management, discharge letters and liaising with general practitioners will be necessary.

★ ASAP start, 2-6 week locums (or longer) whilst the pandemic remains – blocks available until July at this stage

★ Ad-hoc individual shifts considered for Brisbane based residents

★ Monday-Sunday day shifts with potential on-call responsibilities

★ Support from FACEMs, nurses and other medical officers

★ 8-10 hour shifts dependent on experience

★ Opportunity to assist in ED/Medical Wards if desired

The ideal locum doctors for these positions would be available to attend the hospitals in person and assist with admitted patients on the ward when necessary. However, remote working will be considered by some health services.

➞ Coordinate, promote, and implement Territory-wide controls for TB, leprosy, and non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disorders

➞ Use your prior experience with TB/Leprosy to facilitate clinical management controls

Surveillance Public Health Medical Officer

➞ Provide monitoring and quality assurance of all surveillance systems

➞ Analyse and interpret epidemiological data from public health

➞ Assist in the management of outbreaks within the state

➞ Work closely with the epidemiology and support teams to contribute to national surveillance policy through national committees

Medical Advisor - COVID 19 Public Health Medical Officer

➞ Location - Darwin based

➞ Provide public health advice into the implementation and evaluation of the COVID 19 immunisation program

➞ Accountable for the clinical advice on vaccine safety and reporting of Adverse Events Following Immunisations (AEFIs)

➞ Provide high-level timely advice to health professionals and the Minster

➞ Represent Northern Territory on national committees and appropriate media forums in consultation with the NT Health Media Unit

Urgent Covid Ward Locums - Medical Officers - Sydney, NSW

The Position

During the pandemic, Sydney based medical officers have provided ongoing local locum assistance in respiratory clinics, vaccine centres and dedicated Covid wards across the metropolitan area. There is now an urgent requirement at one of the largest hospitals at the forefront of the Covid response in NSW.

Prescript has multiple positions available in the Covid ward in Central Sydney, commencing as soon as possible for at least the next three months.

Your contribution to this hospital is crucial and will be greatly appreciated. You’ll be making a significant impact on the wider community – supporting patients during a very critical time.

★ You’ll be working in a dedicated Covid building, either on the 60-bed ward or the 10-bed ICU.

★ Shifts are 12 hours in length, 0800-2000 & 2000-0800, days or nights

★ Suitable for PGY2+ with General AHPRA Registration, previous Covid-ward experience is not necessary

★ Full made-to-measure personal PPE is provided

★ Respiratory/ICU Physicians on during the day, local CMOs are in charge overnight with Consultants on-call after-hours

★ ICU/Medicine CMOs are encouraged to apply. CMOs able to work for 2-3 months may have the opportunity to do some in-charge shifts overnight

★ There are shower areas in the ward and a donning station, so you’ll be able to leave and remove PPE and refresh on your breaks/before and after shifts

★ Both wards are staffed by Consultants, CMOs, Registrars and Junior Medical Officers in a well supported and collegiate environment

Dates Available

The Benefits

★ Hourly rate of $150-$160 per hour for days and $180 per hour for nights
