About Jo Weaver

Having worked with many of the team members in my previous role, they recognised my skills and experience in the health field and thought that I could bring valuable knowledge and tools to the organisation. It’s a pleasure to be a part of the Prescript team.

I am a dedicated recruitment professional with an extensive background in the healthcare industry. I began my career at a sole-doctor GP practice and during my 17 years there, I helped grow the practice to nine staff members, including four doctors, four part-time receptionists, and myself. Seeking to broaden my knowledge, I then transitioned to Medical Workforce at a small rural public hospital where I enjoyed building relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff.

My experience working with hospitals and practices enables me to put myself in both health services and doctors’ shoes and truly understand their recruitment needs from their perspective.

Professionally, I am driven by contributing 100% of the time, doing the very best I can to make doctors feel happy and fulfilled in their positions. Personally, my driving force is family. I am there to support them, be involved, nurture, and watch them grow.

In my role, I am passionate about achieving good outcomes, placing doctors in vacant roles, building relationships with medical professionals, and filling organisational roster gaps with locums. In doing so, I hope to contribute to the Prescript’s growth, success, and our mission of solving the regional doctor shortage in Australia.

Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, growing my own veggies, cooking, and trying new recipes. I am also an avid reader of murder/crime mysteries.

Please feel free to reach out to say hi or if you'd like to update me on your current locum availability. For any VIC-based doctors, you're always welcome to pop in to see me at the Melbourne office for a coffee - it would be great to see you in-person!

Prescript are medical recruitment specialists.

At Prescript we’re known for helping solve the regional doctor shortage in Australia.

Every day we’re focused on two clear outcomes - Helping hospitals find doctors that create departments and clinics that run better, have more capacity and less stress. And placing Doctors in jobs that leave them feeling highly valued, rewarded and, most importantly, enjoying what they do.

We believe that when we get these two crucial things right, it has a huge impact on the regional doctor shortage and the healthcare of communities across Australia.

About Mel Houston

Hi, I'm Melissa Houston; I am one of the Senior Recruitment Partners at Prescript Recruitment, working with rural generalists and emergency medicine doctors across metro and regional Australia.

My experience covers over a decade of medical recruitment, specialising in senior doctors and solving the healthcare shortage.

I am an expert in working closely with hospitals, departments, and clinics to fill their critical vacancies. My success has included roster management, executive search projects and in-depth relationship building with locum doctors.

I love to work hard whilst injecting humour and fun into my day-to-day activities. I really enjoy meeting clients and doctors; as it stands, I think I've ticked off 100 hospitals that I have visited, and that is probably only touching the surface. I believe it's integral to matching doctors’ and clients’ needs and helps me better understand doctors' new roles.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my daughter and family. I'm a water baby at heart, so you'll often find me out on our family boat - sailing the beautiful waters of the Mornington Peninsula (where I live!).

★ Block out a day a week or a session a week to see if this suits your schedule

★ Fit in with school hours, hobbies, and save yourself commuting and travel time!

★ Payment via ABN

★ Working with aged care facilities

Business hours:

★ $333 per hour for 9 am – 5 pm

★ Looking at 3 months minimum commitment

★ Same time each week, can be part-time hours (same hours each week for consistency)

After-hours:

★ Looking at 3 months minimum commitment

★ $90 per consult after hours

The Position

It’s no secret there are major medicine subspecialty shortages in regional and rural Australia.

This health service is a doctor-led health provider and has an established network of patients on waiting lists across Australia - so the demand is there if you are ready to help and make a huge impact on regional and rural communities in a new way! Their care model is unique and provides optimal care to residents, the home, and family.

Patients that are appropriate for a telehealth consultation will be directed to you for consultations. This means you may see a portion of your typical range of cases. Procedural patients or highly complex cases will still require in-person assessment for quality care. The Geriatrician/General Medicine Physician takes over the role of primary care provider and manages the day-to-day clinical needs of the resident. GP is available to undertake face-to-face assessments, as required

You will have access to a team of medical administration booking in appointments for you based on your scheduling preferences. Nurses may also be available in person with the patient, particularly with vulnerable populations and in more complex situations.
