The Position

Role: Senior Emergency Department Registrar
Location: Launceston General Hospital, Launceston, TAS

As a Senior ED Registrar, you will play a leadership role, particularly during night shifts, acting as the senior doctor in charge. You will manage both in-charge and non-charge shifts, supported by a well-structured team including junior registrars and JMOs. The hospital’s status as a major regional referral center and ACEM-accredited training site ensures exposure to diverse and complex cases, making it an excellent place for professional development.

Shift options include:

  • 0800-1800

  • 1230-2230

  • 1400-2400

  • 2200-0830

Key details about the role:

  • No solo nights—each night shift is supported by 1 senior registrar, 1-2 junior registrars, and 2-3 JMOs.

  • Multiple FACEMs on-site from 0800 to 2400, with FACEM support on-call from 2400 to 0800.

  • Comprehensive sub-specialty support, including a 24/7 Cath lab and an ECMO-capable ICU.

Dates Available

Available locum shifts run from 24/03/2025 to 01/06/2025. You can choose blocks of shifts or tailor a schedule to suit your availability. Speak to Prescript Recruitment to reserve your dates early.

What We Require From You

We are looking for dedicated and experienced doctors to fill this key role.

  • Experience: Advanced trainees and PGY4+ doctors with emergency medicine and critical care experience.

  • Certification: ALS2 (Advanced Life Support Level 2).

  • Availability: Commitment to any of the available shifts during the locum period.
