Regional hospitals across Australia are expanding Hospital in the Home (HITH) programs to deliver hospital-level care while allowing patients to remain safely in their own homes.

To support this important service, Toowoomba Hospital is seeking a Locum GP / Senior Medical Officer to provide clinical oversight for its well-established HITH program for a short locum block in March 2026.

The Role

Senior Medical Officer – Hospital in the Home (HITH)

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Provide clinical oversight for patients admitted to the HITH program

  • Review patients and oversee treatment plans

  • Coordinate care with experienced nursing and allied health teams delivering services in the community

  • Support safe and effective transitions between hospital and home-based care
