Prescript is looking for a FRANZCR Radiologist to join an established private imaging clinic in Mackay, Queensland, with locum cover available from November 2026 through to March 2027.
There are plenty of weeks available, so this could be anything from a single locum week to regular return blocks across the summer.
Rate: $4,000 per day

This is a busy, well-established multimodality private imaging clinic in Mackay with a broad and varied case mix.
The clinic offers:

MRI
PET
Ultrasound
X-ray
Breast imaging
BMD
Image-guided procedures
Procedural capability is required.
You will be joining an experienced imaging environment with access to a wider network of radiologists and subspecialty support, while still enjoying the autonomy and variety that comes with regional private practice.
It is a good fit for a radiologist who enjoys a broad general workload, likes procedures, and wants a clinic-only locum without hospital or on-call commitments.
Why Mackay?
Mackay works particularly well as a locum destination because it combines the convenience of a sizeable regional city with easy access to the coast, rainforest and national parks.
Getting there is straightforward. Mackay Airport has regular services to Brisbane and other major centres, making connections from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and elsewhere relatively easy.
Once you arrive, your flights, accommodation and car are provided, and Prescript will help coordinate the practical details around your placement.
Outside work, Mackay gives you plenty of options.
Around 50km north is Cape Hillsborough National Park, where rainforest meets the Coral Sea and kangaroos and wallabies are often seen along the beach around sunrise.
Head inland and you have the Pioneer Valley, Finch Hatton Gorge and Eungella National Park, with rainforest walks, waterfalls, mountain views and one of Queensland’s best-known platypus viewing areas at Broken River.
Closer to town, Mackay has beaches, a marina, restaurants and all the day-to-day conveniences you would expect from a major regional centre.
For radiologists considering more than one block, it is the kind of location where returning over several months can feel more like having a regular Queensland base than simply flying in for a one-off locum.

Mackay is DWS eligible. For FRANZCR Radiologists who are subject to Section 19AB, this may make Mackay particularly worth considering, as the appropriate exemption can allow you to undertake multiple locum periods over time, subject to your individual provider number and exemption arrangements.
