The Opportunity
Join a unique and rewarding clinical environment at Darwin Correctional Centre, delivering comprehensive primary and public health care within a structured, well-supported correctional setting.
This role suits experienced GPs who enjoy broad-scope medicine, value strong systems and teamwork, and want to make a meaningful impact with an often underserved population. You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute directly to improving long-term health outcomes for people in custody.
There is no on-call requirement, and longer placements are preferred to support continuity of care and professional satisfaction.
The Role
Position: GP
Location: Darwin Correctional Centre, NT
Rate: $2,376 per day
Hours: As per facility roster (no on-call)
You will:
Deliver comprehensive GP and public health care
Manage acute presentations and chronic disease
Provide clinical leadership alongside nurses and Aboriginal Health Practitioners
Participate in emergency responses and medical evacuations when required
Contribute to service development, education and reporting
Dates Available
23 March – 17 April 2026 (full 4-week availability required)
From 11 May 2026 onwards (minimum 3 weeks, 4+ weeks preferred)
