Prescript is working with Mt Isa base hospital who is short on five critical care doctors for the current and upcoming medical term. If you are a PGY4+ doctor with ED or ICU skills and are available to assist for a medium-term locum, please get in touch to secure your dates as soon as possible.
Mt Isa is the largest training hospital in North West QLD, so you will be well supported by Rural Specialists. With a competitive rate of $150 per hour and guaranteed ten shifts per fortnight, now is an excellent time to secure a long-term block in this unique location.
The Position
Working alongside other non-specialists, with support from FACEMs, FCICMs and Rural Generalists (up to 20 doctors contracted), you will be working around a roster within the hospital’s ED or ICU teams. There are multiple positions available, and rates have been increased due to urgency. The role is ideal for PGY4-7 doctors (PHOs), either accredited or unaccredited registrars, with confidence in their critical care experience:
13 Bed ED, 4-bed ICU
Approximately ten shifts per fortnight
Working around a roster, including morning, afternoon and night shifts
Supportive working environment
Long-term locum vacancy for the rest of 2023
Either ED (2 positions) or ICU (3 positions) or potential to contribute across both

About Paul Tillman
As Prescripts Senior Recruitment Partner for non-specialist doctors, I am passionate about building close relationships with both the doctors and health services I work with. I always aim to provide a personal and tailored service and will strive to find the best opportunities for doctors based on their needs and goals and, in turn, provide health services with the best fit for the vacancies they have.
Having worked in medical recruitment for over five years, I have a great understanding of the roles available and the challenges health services face in finding staff for their vacancies.
Prior to working in medical recruitment, I was a Registered Nurse and worked in the UK as a Respiratory HDU Nurse for NHS trusts. This means I have a great insight into the challenges of working clinically and always try to consider this in my work.
I am currently studying Nursing again to allow me the opportunity to return to some clinical work in Australia. My family and I moved to Melbourne from the UK over five years ago, and I enjoy travelling and exploring Australia whenever I can, as well as getting back home to visit family in the UK.
My passions are spending time with friends and family, including my dog Ted, eating and drinking out, enjoying the Australian weather (when Melbourne allows), and sports – most of all football (or soccer, as I am often told).
I always have time for a chat and a joke with health services and doctors alike and look forward to building new connections at Prescript.
