Location
Deniliquin is a welcoming riverside town set on the Edward River, a tributary of the Murray River. It is a popular regional escape for doctors who enjoy being close to the water, with opportunities for fishing, walking, cycling, golf and relaxed time outdoors between shifts.
The town has a strong local food and community scene, with cafés, local produce markets and heritage attractions that give it plenty of character beyond the hospital. Deniliquin is also well known for major regional events, including the Deni Ute Muster and the Deniliquin Fishing Classic.
Deniliquin sits at the junction of the Cobb and Riverina Highways, around one hour north of Echuca Moama. It is approximately 3.5 hours by road from Melbourne, around eight hours from Sydney, and a little over two hours from Albury Airport.
Eligibility and Requirements
To be considered, you will need:
VMO GP experience
Emergency Department experience
Current AHPRA registration
Emergency credentials suitable for rural ED work
Ability to work independently within a supported rural setting
Eligibility for NSW Health credentialing
Why This Role Is Worth Considering
Not every rural ED locum offers this level of support.
With senior ED nursing, Nurse Practitioner coverage, 24-hour pathology and radiology including CT, telestroke access, portable ultrasound, and obstetrics and anaesthetics backup, this role gives experienced rural doctors the chance to work independently while still having meaningful clinical support around them.
Combined with flexible dates, accommodation, travel support and a strong hourly rate, this is a practical and appealing option for VMO GPs looking at May and June availability.
