About Jo Weaver

Having worked with many of the team members in my previous role, they recognised my skills and experience in the health field and thought that I could bring valuable knowledge and tools to the organisation. It’s a pleasure to be a part of the Prescript team.

I am a dedicated recruitment professional with an extensive background in the healthcare industry. I began my career at a sole-doctor GP practice and during my 17 years there, I helped grow the practice to nine staff members, including four doctors, four part-time receptionists, and myself. Seeking to broaden my knowledge, I then transitioned to Medical Workforce at a small rural public hospital where I enjoyed building relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff.

My experience working with hospitals and practices enables me to put myself in both health services and doctors’ shoes and truly understand their recruitment needs from their perspective.

Professionally, I am driven by contributing 100% of the time, doing the very best I can to make doctors feel happy and fulfilled in their positions. Personally, my driving force is family. I am there to support them, be involved, nurture, and watch them grow.

In my role, I am passionate about achieving good outcomes, placing doctors in vacant roles, building relationships with medical professionals, and filling organisational roster gaps with locums. In doing so, I hope to contribute to the Prescript’s growth, success, and our mission of solving the regional doctor shortage in Australia.

Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, growing my own veggies, cooking, and trying new recipes. I am also an avid reader of murder/crime mysteries.

Please feel free to reach out to say hi or if you'd like to update me on your current locum availability. For any VIC-based doctors, you're always welcome to pop in to see me at the Melbourne office for a coffee - it would be great to see you in-person!

About Mel Houston

Hi, I'm Melissa Houston; I am one of the Senior Recruitment Partners at Prescript Recruitment, working with rural generalists and emergency medicine doctors across metro and regional Australia.

My experience covers over a decade of medical recruitment, specialising in senior doctors and solving the healthcare shortage.

I am an expert in working closely with hospitals, departments, and clinics to fill their critical vacancies. My success has included roster management, executive search projects and in-depth relationship building with locum doctors.

I love to work hard whilst injecting humour and fun into my day-to-day activities. I really enjoy meeting clients and doctors; as it stands, I think I've ticked off 100 hospitals that I have visited, and that is probably only touching the surface. I believe it's integral to matching doctors’ and clients’ needs and helps me better understand doctors' new roles.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my daughter and family. I'm a water baby at heart, so you'll often find me out on our family boat - sailing the beautiful waters of the Mornington Peninsula (where I live!).

Are you in search of a new adventure and an opportunity to immerse yourself in a captivating culture? Prescript has an urgent and exciting locum for a General Practitioner to assist a health service on the stunning Tiwi Islands, situated 70km off the shores of Darwin. Dates are available from 19-30 June, but this locum won’t be available for long!

The Tiwi Islands are an enchanting destination that offer a unique cultural experience and breathtaking natural beauty. Comprised of two main islands, Bathurst and Melville, the Tiwi Islands are known for their rich Aboriginal heritage, vibrant art scene, and pristine landscapes.

The Position

As part of the team in Julanimawu (Nguiu), your role will involve providing primary care and public health services to the residents of the Wurrumiyanga community and nearby outstations. This is a two-GP position, ensuring continuous support during your tenure in the area. Working Monday to Friday, with no weekend or public holiday obligations. Please note that ED cover is not required, as the focus is primarily on primary healthcare. PHC Nurses and Aboriginal Health practitioners are the initial responders on-call.

One of the highlights of a visit to the Tiwi Islands is the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local Aboriginal culture. The Tiwi people have a deep connection to their land and traditions, which are beautifully showcased through their art, music, and ceremonies. You can visit art centers where you'll witness talented artists creating vibrant paintings, intricately carved wooden sculptures, and traditional textiles known as "pukamani" burial poles. Engaging with the locals and learning about their cultural practices is an unforgettable experience.

Nature enthusiasts will be captivated by the unspoiled beauty of the Tiwi Islands. From golden sandy beaches to lush rainforests, the islands are a haven for wildlife and outdoor activities. Take a guided tour through the dense forests, where you'll spot unique flora and fauna, including wallabies, crocodiles, and an array of bird species. If you're lucky, you might even witness the mesmerising sight of nesting turtles along the pristine shores.

About Ash Pinkerton

Hi there, I'm Ash and I work as Prescript's Recruitment Partner for Family Medicine GPs and Psychiatrists. Based in Adelaide, my aim is to become the most knowledgeable recruiter for Psychiatrists and Family Medical GPs in Australia. I'm passionate about working with the Prescript team to develop tailored solutions that address the regional doctor shortage and provide the best possible outcomes for everyone involved.

With over three years of recruitment experience in a variety of industries, including blue, pink, and white collar, I've gained a deep understanding of the needs of both clients and candidates. Recently, I served as a Board Member, where I focused on upholding ethical standards and streamlining operations. Additionally, as a Co-Managing Director and Co-Founder within the recruitment industry, I worked hard to develop and implement business strategies that prioritised client needs and ensured positive outcomes for all involved.

I'm a firm believer in continuous learning and am always striving to expand my skill set. I have completed certifications in Python coding and Life Coaching, and I'm currently working towards completing certification in labour hire. I live by the quote from Eric Hoffer: "In times of change, the learners shall inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with the world that no longer exists."

At my core, I'm motivated by the desire to make a positive impact and contribute to a greater cause. In my personal life, I'm committed to self-improvement and enjoy exploring new hobbies and learning new skills. When I'm not working, you can find me spending time with my family and friends, reading books, hiking, or cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

I'm thrilled to be part of the Prescript team, where everyone genuinely values each other's opinions and achievements. In my experience, Prescript Recruitment is a productive, constructive, and supportive team that is committed to making a real difference in the industry.
