About Paul Tillman

As Prescripts Senior Recruitment Partner for non-specialist doctors, I am passionate about building close relationships with both the doctors and health services I work with. I always aim to provide a personal and tailored service and will strive to find the best opportunities for doctors based on their needs and goals and, in turn, provide health services with the best fit for the vacancies they have.

Having worked in medical recruitment for over five years, I have a great understanding of the roles available and the challenges health services face in finding staff for their vacancies.

Prior to working in medical recruitment, I was a Registered Nurse and worked in the UK as a Respiratory HDU Nurse for NHS trusts. This means I have a great insight into the challenges of working clinically and always try to consider this in my work.

I am currently studying Nursing again to allow me the opportunity to return to some clinical work in Australia. My family and I moved to Melbourne from the UK over five years ago, and I enjoy travelling and exploring Australia whenever I can, as well as getting back home to visit family in the UK.

My passions are spending time with friends and family, including my dog Ted, eating and drinking out, enjoying the Australian weather (when Melbourne allows), and sports – most of all football (or soccer, as I am often told).

I always have time for a chat and a joke with health services and doctors alike and look forward to building new connections at Prescript.

Radiologists – Experience a Locum in Bunbury or Busselton WA

How does a locum in the picturesque location of Bunbury or Busselton sound?  Prescript currently has locum dates from one of our major health service providers available through to the end of 2023.

Bunbury is a cosmopolitan city and one of the “most biodiverse regions on Earth, where world-class wine, pristine beaches, and forests of timber giants can all be enjoyed in a single day.” Located two hours south of Perth by car, it is also accessible by rail.

Like dolphins? Bunbury has an abundance of them. Visit the Dolphin Discovery Centre on the shores of Koombana Bay and you’ll be frolicking with them in no time.  There’s also a mangrove cove, golf courses, meandering waterways, and a stunning coastline. There is literally something for everyone.

If you would prefer to work in an alternative location, the nearby township of Busselton is only 40 minutes south of Bunbury. Considered the gateway to the Margaret River premium wine region, it offers surf breaks, picture-perfect beaches, and family-fun holiday parks. If you enjoy the beach, the beach in Busselton will not disappoint. It is known for its turquoise color, tranquil water, and white sands.

There’s also a vibrant arts hub with plenty of museums and galleries, not to mention a food, wine, and craft beer scene and plenty of accommodation options ranging from absolute beachfront five-star resorts, private villas, bed and breakfasts, and everything in between! Busselton also features the longest jetty in the southern hemisphere. Coming in at a staggering 1.8 kilometers in length, this heritage-listed jetty will allow you to watch tens of thousands of whales pass by on their annual migration from May to December.

The Position

Prescript has partnered with one of the largest health services in Western Australia. They are an industry leader and continuously strive for clinical excellence. They believe that people in rural and remote areas are entitled to the highest standard of diagnostic imaging services available.

You have the option of working at Bunbury or Busselton or both. Services include a mixture of: general X-Ray, OPG, CT, MRI, ultrasound, bone density scanning, fluoroscopy, mammography, nuclear medicine, PET/ CT, Bone densitometry and interventional. The locum will be aligned to your preferences as well as your individual skills and experience.

About Jason Ahmad

I’m Jason Ahmad – Senior Radiology Recruitment Partner at Prescript. I have worked in a number of health-related fields; however, medical recruitment has been the most enjoyable. I have more than 20 years of experience in areas such as Pathology, Medical Indemnity and GP Recruitment. This broad knowledge base allows me to understand the challenges faced by those in our field and therefore find solutions that often create enduring positive outcomes.

I am driven professionally by being able to create positive and meaningful health outcomes in rural and regional communities. It is immensely satisfying helping practices and hospitals find the right doctor for their permanent and locum positions, and I pride myself on finding optimal outcomes that balance doctor needs with practice requirements. Every time I make a placement, we are one step closer to solving the regional doctor shortage.

I see many opportunities for growth in the medical industry. I am particularly interested in seeing the barriers faced by International Medical Graduates lowered to facilitate their registration with the Australian Medical Board. As a cohort, they offer a very real solution to the enduring rural workforce shortage. I feel as a country, we have the resources and technology to do this without compromising patient safety.

Outside of work, I’m personally driven to encourage and support my two sons whose development are my greatest aspiration. Aside from a two-year stay in Melbourne, I have lived my entire life in Adelaide. I enjoy being outdoors when I can, and love a game of pool, and watching the cricket or football; especially at a live match. I have three cats and a dog who are sources of endless comfort and, at times, amusement.

◼️ The fourth stage – Prescript will help manage all the paperwork and logistics. All you have to do is look forward to starting.

About Mel Houston

Hi, I'm Melissa Houston; I am one of the Senior Recruitment Partners at Prescript Recruitment, working with rural generalists and emergency medicine doctors across metro and regional Australia.

My experience covers over a decade of medical recruitment, specialising in senior doctors and solving the healthcare shortage.

I am an expert in working closely with hospitals, departments, and clinics to fill their critical vacancies. My success has included roster management, executive search projects and in-depth relationship building with locum doctors.

I love to work hard whilst injecting humour and fun into my day-to-day activities. I really enjoy meeting clients and doctors; as it stands, I think I've ticked off 100 hospitals that I have visited, and that is probably only touching the surface. I believe it's integral to matching doctors’ and clients’ needs and helps me better understand doctors' new roles.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my daughter and family. I'm a water baby at heart, so you'll often find me out on our family boat - sailing the beautiful waters of the Mornington Peninsula (where I live!).

Locum GP - Hospital In The Home - Wagga Wagga NSW

Prescript has an excellent and rare opportunity for GPs interested in taking a break from percentage billings arrangements, whilst putting their clinical expertise to the test in a leadership role with a reputable regional health service.

We’ve received excellent feedback from our locum GP finishing at the end of the month. Now with the health service advertising for a permanent doctor imminently – this could be one of the last chances you have to lock in an extended locum block in this field. It’s therefore also the perfect trial to work within Wagga if you’re considering a permanent career change this year!

The Position

Working with Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, you will be supporting the clinical director with medical governance and clinical care across two minor injury services. This position requires medical leadership as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing care to patients referred to ambulatory care, Hospital In The Home, and PIXI clinics.

Your impact in the role will ensure appropriate arrangements will be made for patients discharged from hospital; communicating with external medical practitioners, overseeing detailed discharge summaries and management plans, and supporting ambulatory teams -  maximising the chance of good health outcomes.

As part of the role, you will support the development of telehealth models of care to streamline the consultation and admission process for patients and practitioners.

All teams within the HITH department specialise in non-urgent medical care, with a focus on preventing re-admission to hospital for patients, and the continuity of care in their community. There is no requirement to have Emergency Medicine or recent Hospital experience.

Urgent Private GP Coverage – Locum In Outback WA

Under the shadow of red-layered Jurndamurneh (Mount Nameless) lies a community in urgent need of assistance from General Practitioners. This is an opportunity for GPs, with or without emergency medicine skills, to provide critical generalist services - whilst marvelling at the local scenery of the Pilbara on their days off.

If you have pictured yourself working in outback WA, at a well-regarded and supportive private health service, and have the capacity to assist for as little as two weeks over the next few months, please get in touch as soon as possible. We’d love to hear from you!

★ Private billings arrangement (high earning potential)

★ Testing skills in remote MMM7 locations (reduce your moratorium!)

★ Flexible appointments for enterprising GPs looking to maximise their earnings

★ GP Practice or GP + ED on-call

★ Feedback from locums is very positive about the organisation and work environment

★ Excellent administrative and remote specialist support

The Position

There are two ongoing positions available at linked outback practices, suitable for GPs with or without Emergency Medicine experience.

These practices, ran closely together, have recently reorganised their rosters and are looking for tenacious GPs to assist with two urgent vacancies, or by FIFO arrangements over the rest of the year.

TOM PRICE - CLINIC + ED

Working out of Tom Price Medical Centre, you will be working alongside 2 other GPs and sharing on-call responsibilities for the local hospital + Paraburdoo hospital. Major trauma in these small mining towns is uncommon so you will be able to work in the practice (if desired) during your weekdays on-call, maximising your earnings over this time.

High private billings earning potential plus substantial on-call loading

On-call 1 in 3 weekdays & 1 in 3 weekends

Flexibility to provide additional days on-call if desired

Option to book specialised higher income work-cover appointments with the mining organisation Rio Tinto.

PARABURDOO - CLINIC ONLY

Working out of Paraburdoo Medical Centre you will be the sole doctor servicing the primarily mining and indigenous community in the area. This is a private billing practice where you’ll have the flexibility to arrange specialised health assessments to maximise your earning potential.

No weekend, public holiday or on-call commitments

High percentage billings arrangement for quality GPs

Roughly 4 patients per hour, $90 standard appointment charge

45-49 health assessments to be completed - $172 per consult

Experienced and supportive administrative team

Support from local GPs situated in Tom Price + the Paraburdoo Hospital

These are fantastic opportunities to work flexibly for great remuneration in the Pilbara – with shared or no on-call so you can explore the Karijini National Park on your weekends off.

Gorges of ancient rock and cool swimming holes and showering waterfalls make Karijini National Park one of Australia’s most dramatic and spectacular destinations.
