Located just two hours from Burnie, Queenstown is a large town with striking ruggedness, surrounded by spectacular scenery including hills, mountains, lakes, and ancient pine forests.

One of Queenstown’s biggest attractions is the West Coast Wilderness Railway. The steam train has exclusive access to some of the most breathtaking views of the West Coast, as the railway winds its way through remote areas, passengers of the especially luxurious Wilderness Carriage will experience a fully catered journey, including lovely Tasmanian sparkling wines!

The Position

This health service is looking for a Rural Generalist to work alongside two other General Practitioners who are supported by a full-time chronic disease management trained registered nurse and practice staff.

The Medical Centre is the only private medical service in town and is attached to the hospital and aged care facility.

The hospital has two emergency and ten acute beds. The closest referral hospital is Burnie which is located two hours north of the west coast.

There will be on-call required as part of this locum, however, this will be shared with the other practitioners and is managed well by the nursing staff, meaning you are only called in when really needed.

➞ ASAP to Monday 23 Jan 2023 (7 days) // 4 days on-call **Urgent

➞ Monday 23 Jan to Thursday 26 Jan 2023 (3 days) // 2 days on-call 

➞ Friday 27 Jan to Monday 30 Jan 2023 (3 days) // 3 days on-call 

➞ Monday 6 March to Friday 10 March (5 days) // 2 days on-call 

➞ Tuesday 14 March to Friday 17 March (4 days) // 2 days on-call 

➞ Monday 20 March to Monday 27 March 2023 (7 days) // 5 days on-call 

➞ Monday 27 March to Friday 31 March 2023 (5 days) // 2 days on-call **Intern supervisor shift

➞ Monday 27 March to Monday 3 April 2023 (7 days) // 5 days on-call
