GP Locum Needed for AMS Clinic in Kakadu – High Impact, Incredible Location

Introduction

Are you a GP looking for meaningful work that makes a lasting difference? Prescript Recruitment, which specialises in placing doctors within regional and remote communities, is offering you an opportunity to provide life-changing care in the heart of Kakadu National Park. This role is your chance to impact Indigenous healthcare while exploring one of Australia’s most awe-inspiring landscapes.

The Position

In partnership with our client’s health service, we are seeking a dedicated GP to join a nurse-led clinic that serves Kakadu’s diverse community. Supported by skilled nursing staff and Aboriginal Health Practitioners, you’ll focus on chronic disease management, specialist referrals, and scheduled patient care. With no on-call requirements, your free time is yours to discover the wonders of Kakadu. Emergency cases are managed by NT Health, allowing you to concentrate on delivering quality care in the clinic.

Explore the Wonders of Kakadu

Kakadu National Park is an adventure. Immerse yourself in thousands of years of Aboriginal culture by visiting ancient rock art sites at Nourlangie and Ubirr, where vivid paintings tell stories of the local Bininj/Mungguy people. Cruise along the Yellow Water Billabong, spotting abundant birdlife and wildlife, from saltwater crocodiles to water buffalo. For spectacular views, hike up to the lookouts at Nourlangie and Ubirr or take in the cascading beauty of Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls. Whether you’re into birdwatching, scenic drives, or exploring pristine trails, Kakadu offers an unforgettable backdrop to your locum experience.

  • 12 May to 20 June

  • 5 August to 12 September

  • 27 October to end of 2025 (with early 2026 dates considered)

Benefits Provided

On offer is a generous daily rate of $1800 per day + GST (negotiable based on experience), ensuring consistent income without reliance on billings. You’ll receive comprehensive travel support, with flights and accommodation fully arranged, both in Darwin and on-site. To ensure you’re set up for success, you’ll be provided with paid induction and training before you begin. With day shifts only and no weekends, on-call, or public holiday requirements, you’ll have the flexibility to enjoy everything Kakadu has to offer. Immerse yourself in Indigenous culture, working closely with local communities and exploring ancient traditions.

What We Require From You

To thrive in this role, you must be registered with AHPRA as a Specialist GP with FRACGP or FACRRM and have proven experience in primary care within rural or remote settings.
