Locum ED Doctors Required In Broken Hill - Make An Impact In Outback Australia

Broken Hill is located in the far west of outback New South Wales. This frontier mining town is rich with history and a vibrant artistic community. Experience lovely cafes and galleries, famous sculptures and landmarks and palatial federation heritage in Australia’s first heritage-listed city.

The Position

We have a range of positions working within the ED department at Broken Hill. From PGY2 supported positions to PGY5+ independent and in charge roles.

The department is a remote level 3 ED which sees presentations of between 65-75 per day, including around 20% peadiatric cases. The department acts as a referral hospital for a variety of level 1 and 2 facilities, with patients retrieved usually via RFDS aircraft.

Doctors are supported by highly trained permanent nursing staff offering a supportive environment for visiting medical officers.

Rates vary from shift and level of responsibility from $140ph to $200ph.

Night Shift // 2145 – 0815hrs // PGY5+

  • Mon 23 Jan to Sun 29 Jan (incl) - $220/hr

  • Mon 06 Feb to Sun 12 Feb (incl) - $220/hr

  • Mon 20 Feb to Sun 26 Feb (incl) - $220/hr

  • Mon 20 Mar to Sun 26 Mar (incl) - $220/hr

  • Mon 10 Apr to Sun 16 Apr (incl) - $220/hr

Night second in charge RMO shift // 2100hrs – 0700hrs // PGY2+

Junior role to assist the night in charge shift doctor by completing work as delegated, which may include initial assessment and management of patients in the emergency department or attending initially to straightforward ward calls. You will have constant supervision and support from the night in charge shift doctor.

  • 16 Jan - 22 Jan (incl) - $140p/hr

  • 23 Jan - 29 Jan (incl) - $140p/hr

  • 30 Jan - 5 Feb (incl) - $140p/hr

  • 06 Feb - 12 Feb (incl) - $140p/hr  

  • 13 Feb - 19 Feb (incl) - $140p/hr

  • 06 Mar - 12 Mar (incl) - $140p/hr

About Paul Tillman

As Prescripts Senior Recruitment Partner for non-specialist doctors, I am passionate about building close relationships with both the doctors and health services I work with. Having worked in medical recruitment for over five years, I have a great understanding of the roles available and the challenges health services face in finding staff for their vacancies.

Prior to working in medical recruitment, I was a Registered Nurse and worked in the UK as a Respiratory HDU Nurse for NHS trusts. This means I have a great insight into the challenges of working clinically and always try to consider this in my work.

I am currently studying Nursing again to allow me the opportunity to return to some clinical work in Australia. My family and I moved to Melbourne from the UK over five years ago, and I enjoy travelling and exploring Australia whenever I can, as well as getting back home to visit family in the UK.

My passions are spending time with friends and family, including my dog Ted, eating and drinking out, enjoying the Australian weather (when Melbourne allows), and sports – most of all football (or soccer, as I am often told).

I always have time for a chat and a joke with health services and doctors alike and look forward to building new connections at Prescript.
