Are you an ED Registrar with availability to locum in August or September? If so, please speak to Prescript about locum opportunities in North-West Tasmania.

Not only would you be helping the health services with their critical gaps, but you’ll also be remunerated $2200 per day (see benefits section below). If you have time off between your shifts, you can enjoy the charming towns of Burnie, Latrobe and beyond.

These are highly accessible hospitals with excellent feedback from past locums – supportive departments, manageable workloads, excellent accommodation, and escalated daily rates.

If you have even just two days to help pick up some shifts we want to hear from you!

This is an opportunity to help with crisis shifts at popular hospitals with significantly increased rates – available shifts will not last long. Please get in touch as soon as you can to secure your blocks. 

The Position

Work is undertaken at either North West Regional Hospital, Burnie, or Mersey Community Hospital, Latrobe. If you are able to offer medium-long term assistance you can easily pick and chose shifts at both, they’re only 40 mins drive apart.

Both hospitals offer support from FACEMs on shift during the day and on-call for overnight shifts with multiple registrars/CMOs working alongside RMOs. Previous locums have loved the supported environment and the work in both facilities.

Book as little as two shifts back-to-back, or we can identify blocks in the roster to allow you time off to enjoy the sites of North-West Tasmania.

Dates Available

Dates are available from 17th August 2022, and you can book as few as two shift blocks. Ongoing locum work is available at both hospitals so if you would like to get in touch with availability past mid-September for future rosters then please do so.

About Paul Tillman

As Prescripts Senior Recruitment Partner for non-specialist doctors, I am passionate about building close relationships with both the doctors and health services I work with. I always aim to provide a personal and tailored service and will strive to find the best opportunities for doctors based on their needs and goals and, in turn, provide health services with the best fit for the vacancies they have.

Having worked in medical recruitment for over five years, I have a great understanding of the roles available and the challenges health services face in finding staff for their vacancies.

Prior to working in medical recruitment, I was a Registered Nurse and worked in the UK as a Respiratory HDU Nurse for NHS trusts. This means I have a great insight into the challenges of working clinically and always try to consider this in my work.

I am currently studying Nursing again to allow me the opportunity to return to some clinical work in Australia. My family and I moved to Melbourne from the UK over five years ago, and I enjoy travelling and exploring Australia whenever I can, as well as getting back home to visit family in the UK.

My passions are spending time with friends and family, including my dog Ted, eating and drinking out, enjoying the Australian weather (when Melbourne allows), and sports – most of all football (or soccer, as I am often told).

I always have time for a chat and a joke with health services and doctors alike and look forward to building new connections at Prescript.

Locum FACEM $3500 Per Day - No On Call - Dates ASAP Into 2023 - Tasmania

Do you want to maximise your earnings this year and for 2023? We highly recommend you consider a working holiday in Tasmania.

Not only would you be helping a health service with their critical gaps, but you'll also be well remunerated ($3500 per day). A real benefit to working at Launceston General Hospital is that there is no call for locums, meaning your spare time is your spare time, and there are no worries about those hassles of fatigue from being called during the night. There has also been excellent feedback from past locums commenting on its supportive department.

The Position

Launceston Hospital is looking for any commitment for work in 2022/23. They are very flexible working on arrivals and departures, meaning you can reduce your time away from home. Your first shift is always an afternoon starting at 12 noon or 2 pm for a 10-hour shift, and your last is a day shift allowing you to get home that night.

★ Shift times can vary whilst on placement for longer blocks but are 10-hour shifts starting at 0800, 1200 or 1400.

★ Excellent experienced staff with ED Registrars throughout the day and overnight, plus other FACEMs over the day.

★ Launceston Hospital is just 11 minutes from the airport, meaning a short commute for arrivals and departures.

Hi, I'm Melissa Houston; I am one of the Senior Recruitment Partners at Prescript Recruitment, working with rural generalists and emergency medicine doctors across metro and regional Australia.

My experience covers over a decade of medical recruitment, specialising in senior doctors and solving the healthcare shortage.

    ◾️ Working within ED to assess patients who may require admission to the Department of Psychiatry (DoP).

    ◾️ DoP is an acute mental health inpatient facility.

    ◾️ Supported by Head of Department and Team Leader.

  2. Hobart - Locum Psychiatrist Consultant (Inpatient and Extended Treatment Services)

    ◾️ Dates: Monday 3 February – Friday 14 February 2020 (2 weeks).

    ◾️ Rate: $2000 per day.

    ◾️ Hours: Monday - Friday 0830 – 1700, no weekends or Public Holidays.

    ◾️ The RHH Mental Health Hospital in the Home Unit contains 12-beds.

    ◾️ Bridging inpatient and community care, the unit provides care, treatment and support to people experiencing an acute mental illness in their own home, including patients able to be discharged early from the Department of Psychiatry.

  3. Burnie - Locum Psychiatrist Consultant (CATT)

    ◾️ Dates: Tuesday 10 March - Friday 20 March 2020 (2 weeks).

    ◾️ Rate: $2000 per day.

    ◾️ No weekend work.

    ◾️ Supported by Head of Department and Team Leader.

  4. Burnie - Locum Psychiatrist Consultant (Child & Adolescent)

◾️ Working within ED to assess patients who may require admission to the Department of Psychiatry - DoP (DoP is an acute mental health inpatient facility)

◾️ You’ll be based in an acute mental health inpatient facility.

◾️ Tuesday 24 Dec – Friday 3 January 2020 (5 days).

◾️ Royal Hobart Hospital Mental Health Hospital In The Home Unit.

◾️ Inpatient and Extended Treatment Services.

◾️ You’ll be based in the RHH Mental Health Hospital in the Home Unit. This unit which commenced earlier this year is bridging inpatient and community care. It provides people who are experiencing acute mental illness with short-term care, treatment and support in their own home. The RHH Mental Health Hospital in the Home Unit is a 12 bed Mental Health Hospital within the Home Unity.
