Locum ENT Specialist / Otolaryngologist - Tasmania

ENT Locum.png
  • 12-month locum requirement commencing 1 May 2018
  • Charming regional city offers a great base to explore Tasmania
  • Competitive locum rates, accommodation and return travel

Looking for a change of scene? Why not give Tasmania a try! This long-term locum position starts on 1 May right through until May 2019. Stay for a week, a month or more! Or perhaps you could make a regular trip to the Apple Isle to fit in with your other commitments.

About Your Role

Working in a regional area, you will quickly notice the tangible benefits that your role is providing to the community. Strong teamwork and close professional relationships with colleagues are important. The team consists of: four other experienced ENT surgeons; an unaccredited ENT registrar; a rotating specialties registrar for on call; an RMO; and an intern. The on-call component is 1:5, variable depending on leave cover.

About the Location

This regional centre, like the rest of Tasmania, is a good example of good things coming in small packages and is ideally nestled at the head of a beautiful valley. It has grown around a pretty port which has a fascinating history and a vibrant modern-day culture.

The area’s natural beauty is truly staggering, and it has developed a well-deserved reputation for fine wine, excellent food from the local surrounds, and a charming setting in which to enjoy all these good things.

Why Locum?

Regional Australia often struggles to attract and retain specialists to serve its communities and Tasmania is no different. This locum requirement has come about as a result of reduced FTE within the department and you will make a real difference in keeping the service operating at full capacity.

Affordable daily flights mean that the mainland is always within easy reach. This also gives you the option of weekend trips home or interstate, having a regular weekly or fortnightly fly in/fly out commitment or booking in time during the school holidays to take the family somewhere different.

A generous daily remuneration rate is on offer, negotiable depending on experience. You will also have self-contained accommodation provided, return flights or ferry paid, and use of a car if required. Salary packaging is also available for this locum assignment.

About You

To be able to apply for this position, you must hold current Specialist Registration with AHPRA and hold FRACS Otolaryngology. A passion for regional healthcare is also essential in order to be considered for this role.

Unsure about your eligibility for the job? Send through a copy of your current CV and we would be happy to advise you.

ENT/Otolaryngology Registrar | Tasmania

explore (4).png
  • 6-month ENT position commencing 6 August 2018
  • Charming regional city offers a desirable lifestyle and affordable real estate
  • Competitive salary and benefits following new state award agreement

Looking to gain extra experience in ENT? Why not give Tasmania a try! This 6-month fixed term contract position starts in August and could be the ideal next step for you in your professional development.

About Your Role

Working in a regional area, you will quickly notice the tangible benefits that your role is providing to the community. Strong teamwork and close professional relationships with colleagues are important. Experienced surgeons, junior medical officers and excellent nursing staff will support you in your role. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of public and private patients within the hospital.

With recent government investment in surgery provision including two new theatres and a short-stay unit, you won’t be disadvantaged by working in a smaller regional hospital. You will also be involved in the provision of regular ENT outpatient clinics.

About the Location

Your new city, like the rest of Tasmania, is a good example of good things coming in small packages and is ideally nestled at the head of a beautiful valley. The city has grown around a pretty port which has a fascinating history and a vibrant modern-day culture.

The region’s natural beauty is truly staggering, and it has developed a well-deserved reputation for fine wine, excellent food from the local surrounds, and a charming setting in which to enjoy all these good things.

Why Make the Move?

Overcrowding, traffic and property prices in the capital cities continue to break records but with beautiful scenery and a real sense of community at your doorstep, now is the perfect time to think differently and make a smart move. Affordable daily flights mean that the mainland is always within easy reach.

Many doctors who relocate to Tasmania advance rapidly in their careers as they can expand and develop their management and specialist clinical skills. Looking for more hands-on experience? Or perhaps you want to take a break from the rat race and slow down the pace a bit? Either way, this could be a great move for you.

A generous remuneration package is on offer, particularly following the renegotiation of the Tasmanian Salaried Medical Practitioners Agreement in December 2017.
