About the role

You will be providing day to day medical care for the biggest emergency department in WA outside of Perth. You will work alongside a very experienced consultant-led department, and have access to a wealth of medical knowledge. This multi-disciplinary team are passionate in delivering an educational collegial environment, and have a clear vision of what working at Bunbury Emergency Department should be like. They will provide you with a structured yet relaxed culture where everyone pulls together to deliver exceptional emergency care to the South West population. This department embodies the meaning of what it is to be part of a team.

About Bunbury Hospital

Bunbury Emergency Department receives on average 40,000 presentations per year. The department has 39 beds including a 10 bed SSU and provides support to the surrounding regional communities. The department functions as the regional centre for the whole South West; you will gain exposure to the complete spectrum of acute medical, surgical, paediatric, obstetric, gynaecological and mental health related illness.

Benefits

WA Country Health will offer an attractive remuneration based on your postgraduate year between $106,460 – 146,065 plus superannuation, and professional development allowances. You will have access to salary packaging up to $19,000, flexible study and annual leave arrangements, professional development opportunities, plus additional shift and after hours penalty rates.

Criteria

You will have 6-12 months of critical care experience either within Emergency, Anaesthetics, Medicine or Intensive Care.

Prescript is partnering with the largest regional emergency department in WA to find locum Emergency Registrars and Consultants to fill an ongoing roster from June to end of December 2017.

• FIFO roster or secure several month blocks
• Collaborative team culture

The Emergency Department is seeking locum doctors who are keen to join a supportive and collaborative team. They can offer flexible roster arrangements, either by securing one month blocks at a time or on a fly-in fly-out basis.  The roster is open to discussion so there can be flexibility on dates. Daily rates are dependent on experience, with all travel and accommodation covered.

On average the Emergency Department receives 40,000 presentations per year. The department has 39 beds including a 10 bed SSU and provides support to the surrounding regional communities. The department functions as the regional centre for the whole South West, therefore sees the complete spectrum of presentations.

GETTING THERE

Bunbury is located on the stunning South West Coastline of Western Australia.

By flight – Perth airport receives regular flights from all over Australia. There is no connecting flight down to Bunbury, however Perth has plenty of options to get to Bunbury via hire car, rail or coach.

By rail - Bunbury is accessible by rail, with the Australind train departing from the Perth Railway station twice daily. The train takes around two hours and thirty minutes, stopping along the way at several towns located along the South-Western Highway.  Visit the Trans WA website www.transwa.wa.gov.au

By road – Bunbury is located just under a two-hire drive south of Perth CBD, the quickest route is to take the Kwinana Freeway, and this will become Forrest Highway. Follow the signs to Bunbury.

Take the scenic inland route from Perth, take the South-Western Highway which guides you inland from the suburb of Armadale, Pinjarra, Waroona, Harvey, Brunswick Junction then Bunbury.

You’ll certainly be spoilt for choice, travel one hour in any direction and you will be captivated by the incredible biodiversity South West Australia has to offer. Stay local to explore the Tuart forest one of the rarest remaining forests in the world, or discover the unique ecosystem and marine life of Leschenault Estuary.

GETTING THERE

Driving - You can drive to Bathurst from Sydney in under 3 hours.  Best route is via M4 and A32 - amazing views through the Blue Mountains.

Train - There are infrequent trains arriving and departing from Sydney and it takes about 4 hours.

Airport - You can fly from Sydney Bathurst Airport in 50 minutes. Cost is between $200 and $350 return with REX.
