Prescript I Our Giving Update I November 2018

Prescript - Darlinghurst27596 crop long .jpg

Welcome to November’s Giving Update!

It’s that time again – welcome to November’s giving update!

Here at Prescript Recruitment, we embed giving in what we do to create a habit of giving. Every time we help a doctor with the next step in their career in regional Australia we also contribute towards medical coverage in rural Kenya.

We believe that regional Australian hospitals and practices should be fully staffed with doctors so that communities everywhere have the healthcare they deserve. Everything we do is with that in mind. This motivates me daily, and through our involvement with B1G1, we do this on a global level too.

Did you know that through working with our hospitals, clinics and doctors in Australia, the following impacts were created for the Odede community last month alone?

  • 12 days of hospital maintenance for better healthcare

  • 22 nourishing meals to HIV affected children

  • 35 days of a doctor's salary so they can provide medical support to families in need

All of this has been made possible by our membership of the Global Business Giving initiative B1G1. It means your choice to work with Prescript ensures something great happens in the world and saves lives as well.

B1G1-Image-2.jpeg

Odede is located in a rural Western Kenya, where most people live in extreme poverty. Doctors help provide life-saving medical care every day for the village and the surrounding community.

Our BIG goal is to pay a doctor’s salary for an entire year, plus assist with food, clean water and power at a health centre in Odede - Western Kenya.

Where are we up to?

Prescript has been able to contribute significantly to the Odede Community, your ongoing commitment and support is truly appreciated. Our next update is coming soon…. Keep your eyes peeled, it’s going to be one to remember!

Thank you so much for being part of the Prescript community. We’re privileged to work with you.

Who at Prescript was on 'The Young Doctors'?

And the answer is…

Hugo Scales - Prescript’s Finance and Payments Manager!

Hugo Blog.png
I’m Hugo, Finance and Payments Manager at Prescript Recruitment. I make sure doctors are paid correctly and promptly. I’m always happy to answer your questions and talk you though all the different payment methods available. Read my blog to find out how I ended up in medical recruitment, and my ‘interesting’ connection to the medical world..

My Story

I joined the wonderful Prescript Recruitment in September of 2017. Working several days a week, I was immediately made to feel part of the team, and an important part of it at that! Such a warm welcome!

It is a surprise to some that I have landed in medical recruitment, although on the finance-management side. For someone who left school and studied theatre arts for four years, then pursued a career as an actor for over a decade, there is little synergy or vertical integration in this, or any, career path.

Despite this, my colleagues believe, with some considerable mirth but genuine excitement, that my latter connection to the medical world was heavily influenced by my first professional gig as an actor in the 1970s and early 80s Oz soap opera “The Young Doctors”. My clarification that I was only in the show for six months and played a misbehaving hospital orderly, although the brother of a Dr in the cast, has done little to dampen this amusing theory.

If early influences were to dictate my future the more likely scenario would have seen me end up as a hotelier or restauranteur, as I worked many more bars and eateries than appeared on stage or screen, though not exclusively so.

The reality is that I did free myself of the catering world, living and working in the United States of Hollyweird for 10-years. I had initially moved there to take part in a Shakespeare Festival in Northern California but transitioned to behind the scenes work in the film industry in Los Angeles and as a freelance Production Coordinator.

The transition into administration, and away from the uncertainty of marketing one's persona as a hireable commodity, should start to make more sense.

I returned to Sydney and continued with some TV coordinating, but the landscape in Australia remains a very different proposition to an ‘industry’ town like LA. Still, I focused on working within some proximity of creativity and spent some years in finance and administration for an award-winning sourdough bakery, then a busy concert hall, and did casual bookkeeping for some small businesses.

So here I am, always keen to be part of a team of enthusiastic, collaborative professionals which is where I have once again happily found myself.

Medicare Provider Number Applications - Changes to the Process

Stef Medicare blog.png

Did You Know…?

There’s a new form for provider number applications. Medicare has recently updated their manual application form and will no longer be accepting the older versions.

What’s Different?

The layout has changed, and there are several more questions about the location than there was before. This means that more information is needed up front, and the risk of the application being rejected is higher. The good news is that the document is fillable online; however, printing is still required as a handwritten signature is mandatory.

The Answer? PRODA!

In view of the changes, and with all the headaches caused by ensuring provider numbers are ready in time, you should register with PRODA now, more than ever before.

The online system is linked with the Health Professional Online Services (HPOS) and allows you to apply and retrieve provider numbers instantly! And what a relief it is when the number is issued in plenty of time before a locum or permanent placement.

What Is PRODA?

Provider Digital Access (PRODA) is an online authentication system providers use to securely access government online services. Using a two-step verification process, you only need a username and password and access to a personal mobile phone or email account.

To access services using PRODA, you need to register as an individual to get your own account.

What Do You Need To Do?

Follow this step by step guide to obtain additional location provider numbers instantly:

1. First, you will need to register with PRODA

  • To register, click on this link here.

  • A web page will open with a detailed process of your next steps:

  • Create your login details and personal details

  • Verify your identity. You will need three pieces of identification (Passport, Driver’s Licence and Medicare card are easiest to verify, but other ID is accepted)

  • Match your existing services to your profile

2. Secondly, apply instantly for additional location provider numbers

  • Once you have registered, you will then be able to apply online for instant provider numbers.

  • You will be given the required location address and banking details in advance.

Need help applying? I am happy to talk through the process over the phone. Give me a call, or you can call the HPOS team directly on 132 150.

Hospitals - Meet your Recruitment Partner for O&G and Medicine Consultants

LINKEDIN FRIENDLY IMAGES (76).png

Hello!

For those of you that don’t know me, I’m Marcia Beere – Recruitment Partner for O&G and Medicine Consultants at Prescript Recruitment. I work with regional hospitals across Australia to help solve the doctor shortage.

I thought I would share some information about myself so that you can learn a little bit more about my background and my interest in medical recruitment.

With having 10-years of experience in medical admin (and currently living in Brogo, just north of Bega, NSW), it’s safe to say I can relate to many of the difficulties you’re facing within the regional doctor shortage.

“The biggest issue that we are helping to solve is the doctor shortage in regional areas. It’s a consistent problem across the whole of Australia, excluding Sydney and Melbourne, and it is why we exist as an agency. Living in a regional area myself, I have seen the impact of the doctor shortage.”
rudi-strydom-3768-unsplash.jpg

Born in NZ, I moved to Australia in the early 2000's and quickly established myself into a medical administration role. I enjoyed the problem-solving side of it and found being part of the doctor’s career pathway from a Junior, through Registrar to Consultant-level very rewarding.

Being able to help regional hospitals stay fully-staffed was my primary motivation to join Prescript Recruitment earlier this year. I get to work from my home office with the full support and back-up from the team in our Sydney HQ.

If you need my support for your locum, fixed-term and ongoing positions, I’d love to hear from you.
