In 2025, Prescript Recruitment turns 10. What began with a single idea – that great doctors could help close the gap in regional healthcare – has grown into a national network that’s placed over 13,000 doctors and made a difference in every state and territory of Australia.

It’s been a decade of challenge, growth and impact. And I’m incredibly proud of the journey.

As we mark this milestone, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how it all began, the key turning points that shaped us and where we’re headed next.

How it started

Prescript began as a question.

In 2009, I visited remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory as part of a Fred Hollows Foundation trip. I was living in Sydney at the time – a long way from the small village in Norfolk, UK, where I’d grown up – and I’d never truly grasped the scale of Australia until then.

The experience was eye-opening. It made clear just how profoundly geography can shape access to healthcare in this country. And it left me wondering...

What can I do to help fix this?

At the time, I was working in medical recruitment, and I started thinking, what if we could change the conversation around regional medicine?

Instead of saying, “There’s a doctor shortage, nothing can be done,” we could say:

“Here’s a place where your skills are needed. Here’s how you can make an impact. And we’ll help you every step of the way.”

That was the seed that became Prescript.

Changing the script

From the beginning, our goal wasn’t to fill vacancies – it was to reframe the opportunity. We could highlight what rural and regional communities have to offer, and show doctors that working outside the city can be one of the most rewarding, challenging and formative decisions of their careers.

We knew regional roles aren’t without challenges. But we also knew they offered doctors real autonomy, greater exposure, faster upskilling, higher earnings and the chance to do meaningful work where it’s needed most.

So, we built a business around reducing friction. Making the choice easy. Making the transition smooth.

Instead of just sending job lists, we built a concierge-level service – from travel, accommodation, credentialing and onboarding, right through to understanding where your kids might go to school or where to grab a good coffee on your first day. And it worked.

Many of the doctors who worked with us in the early days still do today. So do many of our very first health service clients.

Key milestones we’re proud of

Ten years of impact is a milestone in itself, but there have been many other defining moments I’ll never forget:

Becoming a Business for Good (2018)

In 2018, we joined B1G1, a global giving movement that lets businesses create impact through everyday activities. Our first project funded a doctor’s salary in Kenya for a year. Since then, we’ve contributed:

  • 10,000 days of medical care to children in India

  • 1 million days of clean water to families in Ethiopia

  • Ongoing support for Ronald McDonald House Charities here in Australia

Navigating COVID together (2020-2021)

Like every business, we faced uncertainty during COVID. But we focused on being a calm, consistent voice in the middle of the chaos.

We expanded our telehealth division, helped doctors transition into COVID clinics and found new ways to keep placements moving – even when borders didn’t. It wasn’t easy, but it reaffirmed the strength of our team and the resilience of our community.

Featured by Google (2021)

In 2021, Google’s “Grow with Google” team ran a national campaign spotlighting Prescript’s impact in rural healthcare. For a full day, our story appeared directly below the Google homepage search bar.

It was a surreal, humbling moment – and a real sign that what we were doing mattered.

Achieving ISO 9001 Certification (2023)

In 2023, we became one of the few recruitment agencies of our size to earn ISO 9001 certification – a global standard for quality management.

It formalised what we’d always strived for: a rigorous, consistent and ethical recruitment process, backed by what we call the Prescript Quality Standards (PQS). Every doctor placed through our team is vetted, reference-checked and supported by a system we’re proud of.

Growing into new specialties (2020-2025)

Prescript began with a strong focus on radiology – and we’ve since grown into the leading radiology recruitment partner in Australia. But today, our expertise extends much further.

We now have specialist recruitment teams in:

  • Radiology

  • GP Family Medicine

  • Aboriginal Medical Services (AMS)

  • Rural Generalist roles

  • Emergency Medicine

  • Psychiatry

  • Director of Medical Services (DMS)

  • Telehealth and teleradiology

And that list will keep growing as the needs of our communities evolve.

Looking ahead

The past 10 years have been full of learning, partnership and impact. But we’re just getting started.

Our mission remains the same: to close the healthcare access gap in regional Australia, while giving doctors the chance to grow, lead and make a difference.

We’ll keep listening. We’ll keep evolving. And we’ll keep building a company that puts people – and purpose – first.

Thank you

To the doctors who trusted us.
To the health services that believed in us.
To the Prescript team – past and present – who made it all possible.
And to our partners like Grow with Google and B1G1, who helped us scale our impact beyond borders.
Here’s to 10 more years of doing good work, in good company.
