Aeromedical Indigenous GP Primary Care Locum – Tropical Darwin

Do you have an interest in providing primary care in the Northern Territory on a fly-in-fly-out basis? Prescript is working with the Primary Health Care Branch in Darwin, NT to provide Fellow GPs for their remote Indigenous communities.

Not only will this be one of the most adventurous locums you ever do, but you’ll also be remunerated a fantastic $2000 per day for your help. Opportunities like this do not last long and there is a critical requirement from now until 20th January 2023. Please get in touch ASAP if you can assist.

The Position

Based in Darwin, you will be providing FIFO Primary Care coverage to the community of Wadeye four days per week, with the fifth day in their Casuarina Plaza office.

Wadeye is reached in 50 minutes by air from Darwin, at the mouth of the Fitzmaurice River – with a population of approximately 2700.

You will be working alongside another GP and a multi-disciplinary team, delivering clinical and public health services to the residents of Wadeye and surrounding outstations.

This is an excellent opportunity for GPs with previous experience in Aboriginal Medical Services or new Fellows with an interest in Indigenous Health who can commit to short term locum blocks.

★ Primary Care/Indigenous Health position – no ED requirements

★ No on-call, weekend or public holiday work, Mon-Fri only

★ Support provided from onsite RMPs, aerial medical service telehealth, retrievals, nurses and on-call district medical officers

★ Darwin based with 4 days FIFO, 1 day office based

★ Paid induction/training day in Darwin provided  

★ Two-week (or longer if desired) locum blocks – strong preference to cover the entire vacancy

★ There are ongoing opportunities with the health service across several sites

Who We’re Looking For

Specialist AHPRA Registration

FRACGP or FACRRM

You must either be an Australian citizen/permanent resident, a New Zealand citizen or another relevant work visa

Previous experience with AMS/Indigenous Health desirable
