Prescript Recruitment Blog - Perfectly Placed For Doctors - Locum and Permanent Jobs

Medicine

Neurologists – Short Locum Stints - Flexible Arrangements - $2500 Per Day

Prescript is working closely with the public health service in Dubbo, Western NSW to cover a period of maternity leave in their Neurology department from February 2023. Any availability will be considered for doctors able to cover general outpatient clinics.

If you can provide locum coverage on a one-off or ongoing basis, for as little as 2-3 shifts per block, we would love your assistance, please get in touch today.

The Position

Staff shortages in WNSW have resulted in a backlog of patients requiring general Neurology consultations. You would be assessing non-urgent patients, reviewing and discharging them with the aim of reducing the length of the long-term waiting list. There may also be some follow-up patients who are due for review.

You would be working independently with support from the Clinical Director, however, there are 17 other specialist physicians on-site and full JMO coverage. There are no teaching requirements involved. Clinics run twice daily, Monday-Friday, one-hour appointments for new patients and 30-minute appointments for follow-ups.

This is a critical locum position where your expert services are highly valued. Due to the nature of the role, dates are highly flexible and can be tailored entirely around your existing roster. For locums interested in providing ongoing coverage, a telehealth arrangement can be implemented if you are unable to travel in person – please enquire for more details.

★ Excellent locum rate of $2500 per day + super

★ Work as little as 2-3 days per locum stint

★ Ongoing locum arrangements are highly sought after

★ Full travel from anywhere in Australia and accommodation provisions (excellent serviced apartments).

★ For extended blocks, shared weekend on-call coverage (paid at the daily rate) can be arranged

★ For locums unable to travel, remote telehealth opportunities exist for onboarded locums

★ Neurologists specialising in niche fields may have the opportunity to provide this support

Dubbo is an important rural centre in regional New South Wales and has a variety of interesting cultural attractions as well as beautiful vineyards, and an up-and-coming dining scene. Dubbo is also home to the open-range Taronga Western Plains Zoo!

Since family-friendly accommodation can be arranged, and cheap airfare options from most major cities, why not bring the family along to enjoy the various attractions?

Dates Available

➞ Ongoing dates are available from February to June 2023

➞ Week blocks are ideal, however, shorter periods (2 days or more) will be considered

➞ Monday-Friday clinics only (no on-call during the week)

➞ For extended blocks, weekend on-call is shared on a week-on-week off basis

➞ Part time telehealth coverage is available once locums have worked on-site

Please get in touch with any availability you might have and we’ll assess the roster for suitability. Tentative applications from July 2023 are welcome.

The Benefits

★ $2500 per day paid via ABN (VMoney) or NSW Health Payroll, superannuation paid on top

★ Return flights / fleet car provided from any Australian location

★ Accommodation provided in excellent serviced apartments – family-friendly available

★ Completely flexible dates – multiple locums can cover week-long blocks

★ Telehealth/hybrid opportunity for ongoing locums

★ No weekday on-call or teaching requirements

★ General Neurology clinics only, unless desired by the locum

About Mel Houston

Hi, I'm Melissa Houston; I am one of the Senior Recruitment Partners at Prescript Recruitment, working with rural generalists and emergency medicine doctors across metro and regional Australia.

My experience covers over a decade of medical recruitment, specialising in senior doctors and solving the healthcare shortage.

I am an expert in working closely with hospitals, departments, and clinics to fill their critical vacancies. My success has included roster management, executive search projects and in-depth relationship building with locum doctors.

I love to work hard whilst injecting humour and fun into my day-to-day activities. I really enjoy meeting clients and doctors; as it stands, I think I've ticked off 100 hospitals that I have visited, and that is probably only touching the surface. I believe it's integral to matching doctors’ and clients’ needs and helps me better understand doctors' new roles.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my daughter and family. I'm a water baby at heart, so you'll often find me out on our family boat - sailing the beautiful waters of the Mornington Peninsula (where I live!).

For locums interested in providing ongoing coverage, a telehealth arrangement can be implemented if you are unable to travel in person – please enquire for more details.

Locum Neurologists – WNSW Outpatient Clinics / Telehealth Opportunity

The Position

Are you a General Neurologist with any capacity to assist with outpatient clinics in Dubbo, Western NSW? Prescript is working closely with the public health service to help clear their patient lists and require Consultant assistance on a one-off or ongoing basis.

★ Excellent rate of $2500 per day

★ Work as little as 2-3 days per locum stint

★ Ongoing locum arrangements are highly sought after

★ Full travel from anywhere in Australia and accommodation provisions (excellent serviced apartments).

★ For extended blocks, shared weekend on-call coverage (paid at the daily rate) can be arranged

Dubbo is an important rural centre in regional New South Wales and has a variety of interesting cultural attractions as well as beautiful vineyards, and an up-and-coming dining scene. Dubbo is also home to the open-range Taronga Western Plains Zoo!
