Have you considered utilising your primary care skills with more vulnerable patients than the general population? Or perhaps you’re looking to escape the cold (and rain!) and spend a month in the tropical capital city of the Northern Territory?
Prescript is working with Darwin Correctional Centre to find locum General Practitioners for their primary care facility. This is an excellent opportunity to diversify your practise whilst enjoying the best time of the year to visit this exciting location. You’ll also be paid an excellent guaranteed locum rate of $1800 per day, without the pressure of seeing many patients per day or working from Medicare billings.
This is a popular health service and an excellent opportunity so move fast to secure your interest!
The Position
Working as a medical officer in the primary care facility of Darwin Correctional Centre, you will be providing invaluable services to the prison population during the cooler, dryer winter months of July and August.
This is a role with no on-call expectations, public holidays, or weekend work, so you’ll have ample opportunity to explore the area or relax and enjoy the tropical climate. Work is undertaken in a two-GP team with support from nurse practitioners.
We’re looking for locums who can offer 3 weeks minimum, but if you can cover the whole block it would be ideal. There is a lot happening in Darwin during the locum dates.
Darwin, the capital city of the territory, is a great place to be based, with an incredible range of truly unique experiences to enjoy - and the perfect gateway to exploring other parts of this incredible part of the world, also known in Australia as the Top End.
Situated on the edge of a vast harbour, larger by comparison than Sydney's, Darwin is Australia’s only fully tropical city, with a fascinating diversity of people, culture, history, and natural wonders. Darwin, facing out over the Timor Sea, is a vibrant, exciting city that draws on its cultural diversity in its array of food, entertainment, and lifestyle – and offers plenty to show off the Northern Territory’s remarkable scenery from rainforest wilderness, desert, ocean, and the abundant wildlife in each of these contrasting environments.
