Happy Sixth Birthday To Prescript!

Prescript is Six Years Old!

It’s good to have the opportunity to pause and reflect sometimes. Birthdays and anniversaries are often traditional times to take stock and look back. March marks six years since Prescript opened its doors as medical recruitment specialists.

And - Wow - what a year! It has been a challenging time for everyone.

Here are SIX things jump out from the last year.

Thank You, Everyone

The biggest thank-you goes to our community of Prescript doctors:

★ staffing fever clinics

★ swapping from their usual roles to go where the need is greatest

★ volunteering to quarantine to fulfil locum commitments

★ crossing national and inter-state borders

★ showing good humour and understanding with all the travel changes that have taken place

★ making sure regional communities have the healthcare they need

The health-services we work with have been incredible - each time a border closed, we saw medical administration and management swing into action to put a plan in place to cover shortages. Flights booked, cancelled and rebooked; accommodation reservations unpicked; credentialing paperwork fast-tracked.

A huge well done too for the Prescript Recruitment team - I know that the doctors, hospitals, and practices we partner with have benefited from having Prescript operate at full capacity – the team have been there to manage cancelled locum shifts, change travel logistics, juggle border closures and answer questions. Our recruitment and credentialing teams have worked diligently to support our Prescript doctors and health services – they have focused on the ‘now’ with practical help, and they have focused on the ‘later’ with optimism that better times lie ahead.

Navigating Prescript through the last 12 months has been tough, and I want on a personal note to thank Stef, Nicola, Lee, Marcia, Grace, Kathleen, Max, Hugo, Rebecca and Nadine. We have stuck together and made it through.

In the next 12 months, Prescript is focused on improving our level of service - we want health services and doctors to love working with us (even more) and with that in mind, there are some exciting updates to come!

New Arrivals

Congratulations to Nadine Onto, on the arrival of baby Charlotte! It was wonderful to virtually say hello via zoom.

We are excited to welcome a new recruitment partner - Max Drakeley! Max is based in Melbourne.

New additions to our fur-colleagues - welcome to Stef’s Lukas; Marcia’s Bear and Max’s Monty and Barnaby.

Google and Prescript

We were delighted to share that Google spotlighted Prescript’s mission to help solve the regional doctor shortage - watch the video to learn about Marcia Beere (Prescript’s Recruitment & Credentialing Partner, based in Bega, NSW) and her working relationship with Dr Emily Vink (a GP Obstetrician based in Kununurra, remote Western Australia).

Office Has Reopened

We are now back in the office for part of the week. Embracing a hybrid model of working from home and spending time together in the office.

Zoom has helped us stay connected, across our different locations, however, being together again in person has been great!

I’ve flown to our Sydney HQ and our Melbourne office, from Adelaide and loved seeing the team. It feels like things are returning to some normalcy.

Adelaide Team Trip

To stay connected as a team, we get together three times a year to celebrate and acknowledge hard work. We also reflect on how we can provide a better level of service to the doctors, hospitals and practices we partner with.

Next week, the whole Prescript team will be in Adelaide! It will be a chance to have fun, reflect on the past year and plan for our future.

Since 2015 we have visited every State and Territory - been on the tilting train from Bundaberg to Rockhampton; taken a shuttle bus to Noosa; driven to Bunbury and Busselton; bumped around in a 4x4 in the Northern Territory - we can’t wait to have more adventures across regional Australia!

250,000 Days Of Water!

For 2021 and beyond, our giving goal is to provide 1 million days of access to clean water for families in Ethiopia.

In fantastic news, this week we have reached 250,000 days of water! We are now a quarter of the way to our goal.

How? Each time we help a doctor with the next step in their career, we also contribute to the clean water and new wells in the Tigray region.

You’re part of making it happen by working with Prescript. Thank you.

Happy 6th Birthday, Prescript! Looking forward to the next year ahead.

Happy Fifth Birthday To Us!

Prescript is Five Years Old!

It’s good to have the opportunity to pause and reflect sometimes. Birthdays and anniversaries are often traditional times to take stock and look back. March marks five years since Prescript opened its doors as medical recruitment specialists.

We’re known for solving the regional doctor shortage in Australia, leaving doctors loving what they do and regional communities feeling like they have the best doctors in town.

Here are FIVE things that make Prescript stand out:

Team is Everything

Every day the team at Prescript is focused on what we do best - helping regional areas find doctors, filling rosters and providing peace of mind.

We’ve now grown to nine (plus Bonnie and Lukas of course!).

We all care about the work that we do and the impact it has on the regional doctor shortage. These regions are also our communities - our HQ might be in Sydney, but we are spread far and wide. I live in Adelaide, Rebecca lives on the NSW/QLD border, Nadine is based in our Melbourne office and Marcia lives near Bega, NSW.

To stay connected as a team, we get together three times a year to celebrate and acknowledge hard work. We also reflect on how we can provide a better level of service to the doctors, hospitals and practices we partner with.

Above and below are some recent Prescript photos - our planning retreat in the Sydney HQ and our celebratory Christmas catch-up.

We Always Think of the Impact on Patient Care

Every day we’re focused on two clear outcomes - Helping hospitals find doctors that create departments and clinics that run better, have more capacity and less stress. And placing Doctors in jobs that leave them feeling highly valued, rewarded and, most importantly, enjoying what they do.

On occasion, it can be easy to disconnect the recruitment services we provide from patient care. We try and overcome this be visiting as many of the hospitals and clinics as we can - it is only by walking around emergency departments, touring practices, seeing radiology clinics and meeting with medical administration that we realise how crucial recruitment is to their smooth running.

Since 2015 we have visited every State and Territory - been on the tilting train from Bundaberg to Rockhampton; taken a shuttle bus to Noosa; driven to Bunbury and Busselton; bumped around in a 4x4 in the Northern Territory - just some of the adventures to meet Prescript doctors and Prescript clients. Last week, Nadine Onto, was in Launceston and Hobart. This week Rebecca Doyle and Stef McLaughlin were on the Sunshine Coast.

Recruitment Doesn’t Have to be Boring

We are always trying innovative ways to attract doctors to regional areas. Traditional advertising still works, but if you want to persuade doctors to make a sea or tree change then something different is needed to cut through.

Grace Clueit leads our marketing at Prescript, and along with some fantastic external suppliers, has created some memorable campaigns on behalf of our clients.

Here are two examples of recruitment videos for Bendigo and Shepparton.

Doesn’t it make you want to live there?

Importance of Being a Business For Good

At Prescript, we want to make sure our values flow through everything we do. That’s the reason why we decided to set an annual giving goal through our partnership with the Global Giving Business initiative, B1G1.

Prescript believes that every business has the power to change lives by giving back through its everyday business activities.

Each time we help a doctor with the next step in their career, we also contribute towards improving health outcomes for people living in poverty overseas.

For 2020 and beyond, our giving goal is to provide 1 million days of access to clean water for families in Ethiopia.

You’re part of making it happen by working with Prescript. Thank you.

Lights! Camera! Action!

Introducing our new Prescript “Meet the Team” video! We want our doctors and clients to get to know us and what we do. ⬇️

Happy Birthday, Prescript!

Prescript is 4.png

Prescript is four years old!

It’s good to have the opportunity to pause and reflect sometimes. Birthdays and anniversaries are often traditional times to take stock and look back. Late March marked four years since Prescript opened its doors as medical recruitment specialists.

We’re known for solving the regional doctor shortage in Australia, leaving doctors loving what they do and regional communities feeling like they have the best doctors in town.

A lot has changed over the last four years, here are four of the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

1) Team is everything.

Every day the team at Prescript is focused on what we do best - helping regional areas find doctors, filling rosters and providing peace of mind.

We’ve now grown to eight (plus Bonnie of course!).

We all care about the work that we do and the impact it has on the regional doctor shortage. These regions are also our communities - our HQ might be in Sydney, but we are spread far and wide along the coast from Bega Valley up to the border of coastal NSW/QLD.

To stay connected as a team, we get together three times a year to celebrate and acknowledge hard work. We also reflect on how we can provide a better level of service to the doctors, hospitals and practices we partner with.

Below are some recent Prescript photos - our planning retreat to Watson’s Bay; attending the 2019 Australian Small Business Champions Awards; a celebratory boat trip on the harbour and lastly, our HQ office in Darlinghurst.

2) Always think of the impact on patient care

Sometimes a vacancy can make front page news for the right reasons - Prescript worked on a global recruitment project to find a Neurologist for a regional city. We used our 7-Step Recruitment Framework for a successful outcome and not only did the local paper splash the good news on its front page we also received an acknowledgement from the State Health Minister. It gives the whole Prescript team a feeling of accomplishment to know that a community now has access to the healthcare it deserves.

Below are some photos from recent trips - Bundaberg, Fremantle, Hervey Bay, Launceston and Canberra.

3) Recruitment doesn’t have to be boring

We are always trying innovative ways to attract doctors to regional areas. Traditional advertising still works, but if you want to persuade doctors to make a sea or tree change then something different is needed to cut through.

Grace Clueit leads our marketing at Prescript and along with some fantastic external suppliers has created some memorable campaigns on behalf of our clients.

Here is one example of a recruitment video for the Fraser Coast. Doesn’t it make you want to live there?

4) Importance of being a business for good

Logo.png

At Prescript, we want to make sure our values flow through everything we do. That’s the reason why we decided to set an annual giving goal through our partnership with the Global Giving Business initiative, B1G1.

In 2018, our target was to pay for the salary for a doctor in rural Kenyan village (and we did it - read more here on our blog). Our target for 2019 is to provide 10,000 check-ups for Indian children living in slums (you can follow our progress here).

We love linking our everyday business activities to our giving goal. We share this with Prescript doctors and Prescript clients, so everyone knows that together we are making a great difference in the world by doing what we do every day.

Shikshan Gram in the video below is a shelter for homeless children and is one of the charities delivering the medical check-ups towards our 10,000 goal.

Happy Birthday, Prescript! Looking forward to the year ahead.
