Rural Generalists – Tailor Your Locum - ED or Inpatient – Gateway to the Outback

Prescript has partnered with a health service in the South Australian coastal city of Port Augusta due to locum requirements for Rural Generalists.

We’ve had great feedback from locums who have previously worked within this health service. This is an excellent opportunity to tailor your locum to suit you – choosing to focus on either solely ED or solely Inpatient work. With shifts available until the end of the year, you’ll be able to secure consistent and repeat locums throughout 2023.

Port Augusta is a small city in South Australia located around 3 hours drive from Adelaide.

During your time off, you’ll be able to embrace the abundance of nature that Port Augusta and the surrounding regions provide.

Known as ‘the gateway to the outback’, immerse yourself in the contrasting landscape of this region; one minute being on the edge of the desert and the next exploring the spectacularly contoured, undulating slopes of the Flinders Ranges. Not to mention Mount Remarkable – one of Australia’s best-kept secrets where you can experience beautiful views, gorges and excellent hikes. Enjoy wonderful 360-degree views at the Water Tower lookout, and visit the Australian Arid Lands Botanical Gardens, Wadlata Outback Centre and the Port Augusta Heritage Walk.

The Position

Various shifts are currently available between March and December 2023 for Inpatient Day, ED Morning, ED Afternoon, ED Night & ED/IP floater shifts (full dates below).

Engage in either solely ED work or solely inpatient work

Flights, accommodation and hire car provided

No on-call requirements, straight shifts

$2,200 per day, $2,400 per weekend, $2,600 per public holiday

Rates are negotiable based on your experience and the urgency of the shift

Crisis rates can exceed $3000 per day. You might choose to get credentialled and inducted so you are ready to pick up last-minute shifts for higher rates

Potential opportunity to assist with O&G Registrar rounds (supported by consultant) if desired

There are also various gaps available at Port Augusta’s sister hospital in Whyalla – primarily nights and afternoons in ED. Please contact Max to find out more.

About Max Drakeley

I’m Max Drakeley - Prescript's Senior Recruitment Partner for locum and permanent Specialist Doctor positions across Australia. My genuine interest, passion, and knowledge within the hospital and healthcare industry means I am able to provide a highly tailored service to doctors and health services.

I focus on listening to and understanding the needs of everyone I work with. This allows me to place doctors in positions that perfectly suit their requirements, and provide health services with well-informed and competent doctors, so they can operate at a higher capacity and under less stress.

When not providing solutions to doctors and communities Australia-wide, I love to cook, travel, and spend time with my dog, Monty, and my partner at my home on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. I’m a science nerd at heart and spend my spare time as an editor and author for a cutting-edge Biology magazine for year-12 and undergraduate students.
