Tranquil Norfolk Island has something for everyone, but is most suited to those passionate about the beauty of the natural world. Diving with local sharks, scaling Mount Pitt, bushwalking in the subtropical forests of the national park or just admiring the clifftop views. It’s impossible to be disappointed on your days off.
With short term locum blocks throughout 2023 available, and competition high for this “bucket list locum”, register your interest as soon as possible to secure your island getaway.
The Position
Working alongside 4 other GPs, you will be providing primary care and emergency services to Norfolk Island’s small tightknit community and transient tourist population.
On-call responsibilities are shared evenly, allowing you to explore your surrounds on the majority of your evenings and weekends. Your work will be split between the refurbished local district hospital, and multi-purpose service– with support from experienced nursing, community, mental and allied health teams.
We get great feedback from returning locums about the working environment. We can arrange a call directly with them so you can better understand the position if required
Returning GPs or those able to offer longer blocks are preferred for continuity of care, so why not make this a repeat or extended locum?
THE LOCATION:
Norfolk Island is a small island paradise in the South Pacific Ocean. Famous for its seafood, picturesque beaches, and friendly community, a trip to Norfolk Island will definitely be one to remember.
Discover Norfolk Island’s rich culture, waterfalls, outlooks and trendy cafes & restaurants, not to mention impeccably crystal-clear waters, which are sheltered by teeming coral reefs just a short swim from the sand. Be sure to take a trip to the remarkable Emily Bay – which has been named one of the top 10 beaches in Australia.
Wi-Fi and mobile coverage is limited on the island, allowing you to switch off and enjoy the tranquility on your days off.

Dates Available
Rostered blocks are available below – with a minimum of two weeks coverage required. Doctors able to cover whole months or longer will be prioritised. Please get in touch with your availability and we’ll assess the roster for suitability.

➞ Monday-Friday MPS coverage – 0830-1700
➞ 24 hour on-call for the district hospital when rostered
➞ 1-2 nights per week on-call
➞ 1 in 3-4 weekends on-call

✓ Fellowship of RACGP or ACRRM
✓ Specialist AHPRA Registration
✓ Recent Emergency experience and relevant trauma course certification
✓ You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, a New Zealand citizen, or relevant work visa
