The Positions

Public Health Medical Officers, do you have availability to locum in the Northern Territory? There are three important public health opportunities available:

➞ Medical Advisor - COVID 19 Public Health Medical Officer

Dates & Roles Available

➞ Dates are available from ASAP to 30th November 2021 for the following three opportunities:

Mycobacterial Public Health Medical Officer

➞ Location - TB/NTM/Leprosy clinic in Darwin, plus Katherine, Nhulunbuy and remote communities

➞ Coordinate, promote, and implement Territory-wide controls for TB, leprosy, and non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disorders

➞ Run the TB/NTM/Leprosy clinic in Darwin, plus Katherine, Nhulunbuy and remote communities. You will also provide input to Alice Springs and Tennant Creek mycobacterial programs

➞ Use your prior experience with TB/Leprosy to facilitate clinical management controls

➞ Work with community groups to implement screening

Surveillance Public Health Medical Officer

➞ Location - Darwin based

➞ Provide monitoring and quality assurance of all surveillance systems

➞ Analyse and interpret epidemiological data from public health

➞ Assist in the management of outbreaks within the state

➞ Work closely with the epidemiology and support teams to contribute to national surveillance policy through national committees

Medical Advisor - COVID 19 Public Health Medical Officer

➞ Location - Darwin based

➞ Provide public health advice into the implementation and evaluation of the COVID 19 immunisation program

➞ Accountable for the clinical advice on vaccine safety and reporting of Adverse Events Following Immunisations (AEFIs)

➞ Provide high-level timely advice to health professionals and the Minster

➞ Represent Northern Territory on national committees and appropriate media forums in consultation with the NT Health Media Unit

Who We’re Looking For

✓ General Registration with APHRA and enrolled in training for FAFPHM

OR

✓ Specialist Registration with APHRA + FAFPHM or enrolled in training for FAFPHM (Ask Prescript about eligibility criteria)

✓ You must either be an Australian citizen/permanent resident, a New Zealand citizen or a relevant work visa

✓ Experience with Aboriginal Health is advantageous

✓ Doctors not currently working in COVID hotspot areas will be highly regarded; however, hotspot doctors can and will be considered
