Locum GP – Primary & Indigenous Health – NT – Oct 2021 to Apr 2022

The Position

Do you have an interest in providing primary care in the Northern Territory? Prescript is working with the Primary Health Care Branch in NT to provide Fellow GPs for the communities of Gunbalanya, Numbulwar and Borroloola, including a Darwin-based FIFO opportunity. There is a critical and urgent requirement for Specialist GPs from now until April 2022.

Depending on the location, you will either be working in a multi-disciplinary team where you will be helping as one of two GPs in the practices whilst staying in these remote areas, OR there is an opportunity to be based in Darwin and assist with FIFO clinics for a number of days per week.

All positions require rural travel to community outposts in surrounding areas. Clinical support is provided via Aerial Medical Services and tertiary care at the Royal Darwin Hospital.

This is an excellent opportunity for GPs with previous experience in Aboriginal Medical Services or new Fellows with an interest in Indigenous Health who can commit to short term locum blocks.

★ Primary Care/Indigenous Health position – no ED requirements

★ No on-call, weekend or public holiday work

★ Rural travel to Wadeye, Robinson River and other remote outposts required

★ Paid induction/training day in Darwin provided

★ Two-week (or longer if desired) locum blocks to correspond with chartered flights

★ There are ongoing opportunities with the health service across several sites
