How Do You Make Your Regional Doctor Vacancy Stand Out?

At Prescript, we’re known for helping solve the regional doctor shortage in Australia, and effective advertising is a crucial part of the puzzle. But what is effective advertising? And how can you apply it to your everyday marketing strategy?

During the recruitment process, we often see a lack of clarity and quality within the promotion of roles. If opportunities are not portrayed accurately or with enough information, it can attract the wrong doctors for the role, making it time-consuming for hospitals and practices. From the doctors perspective, if a vacancy doesn’t have enough detail or is not presented attractively, it can be very off-putting - you could be missing out on some great doctor applications!

This guide will provide you with some valuable insights to help you make your vacancies stand out and attract the most suitable doctors.

7 Top Tips To Recruit The Best Doctors

#1 - Design is everything

Whenever you’re sharing opportunities with doctors, ask yourself these key questions:

◾️ Is it aesthetically pleasing?

◾️ Would I like to look at this?

◾️ Does it feel easy to understand and use?

◾️ How does it make me feel when I look at it? – E.g. frustrated, excited, at ease?

If the answers are not positive, you most likely need to change the design of your advertising.

If you can showcase your vacancies in an attractive, high-design, you’ll be on the road to success in no time. Think of some great products or companies you use, and write down why you like them and how their design makes you feel.

#2 - Recruitment Doesn’t Have To Be Boring

We are always trying innovative ways to attract doctors to regional areas. Traditional advertising still works, but if you want to persuade doctors to make a sea or tree change, then something different is needed to cut through.

Here is an example of a memorable video component we created on behalf of a global healthcare provider.

#3 - Transparency Is Key

Be clear and transparent in your language and information about the role. An accurate portrayal of the position will help you attract the right doctor for it.

#4 - Share Lots Of Great Information

How much information have you provided? Is it detailed? Is there enough for the doctor to be excited and intrigued about the position?

For our retained roles, we provide our doctors with a full and comprehensive job package, which is a great example of the level of detail that doctors want to receive.

#5 - Help The Doctor Picture Their Lifestyle

This sounds simple, but more often than not we see roles that have information about the doctor's new position, but nothing about where they are going to be living and what their new life might look like. Do your research, put yourself in their shoes and help them understand everything – from their local coffee shop to where their children will go to school.

This is especially true for doctors moving interstate or overseas. It can be a big decision to move locations, and the doctor’s confidence to do so is heavily reliant on the information you provide.

#6 - Use Different Communication Channels

We understand that everyone is different in how they prefer to receive information; therefore, it’s important to share content about a role in many various forms. This can range from videos to blogs, engaging imagery and much more. Here are some examples of the types of media that we use to promote our vacancies:

#7 - Trust the Experts

Lastly, I’m a big believer in asking for help when you need it. We outsource certain tasks to our external partners for our advertising campaigns and projects. This has helped us create some truly fantastic work and find regional communities the doctors they need. Trust the experts and work together to achieve your recruitment goals.
