Locum VR/Non-VR GP – Correctional Centres – Melbourne & Regional VIC

The Position

Are you a General Practitioner considering a new challenge in 2022? Have you considered applying your primary health skills in a custodial setting in Victoria? Why not take a step back from your clinic work where you will have a greater impact helping more vulnerable patients

Whether you’re interested in picking up additional shifts around your full-time work or transitioning to become a full-time correctional GP, Prescript has locum dates available from December, throughout 2022 and beyond!

With 15 sites available, choose to locum in either Metro or Regional Victoria. We can tailor the locum to suit you, your availability, and your location & clinical preferences. This is a great opportunity for non-Fellows or 19AB restricted doctors to work in Melbourne.

This reputable health service provides primary health to publicly managed prisons, one Transition Centre, a privately operated Correctional Centre and 2 Youth Justice Precincts.

You will be conducting Primary Health appointments, with patients from the prison population, with extensive support from community standard allied health and nurse practitioners.

★ Each site has a secure primary health clinic with day work only – nurses on-call overnight.

★ Range of dates and shift times available – provide your availability, and we’ll assess the roster for suitability

★ Travel time to sites in rural Victoria is paid the hourly rate

★ Secure standardised rates – no working from billings!

★ No previous correctional experience is required

★ No provider numbers necessary – 19AB doctors encouraged to apply

★ General adult population – 20-60-year-olds (other than the Youth Detention Centre)

★ 15-30 minute appointments only (no walk-ins)

★ Have the flexibility to run specialist clinics if desired
