Fitzroy Crossing – GP Community
➞ Mon 30/08/21 – Fri 01/10/21
➞ Mon 01/11/21 – 28/01/22
This role requires a medical practitioner with extensive generalist experience, able to demonstrate significant primary health care knowledge and skills.
It enables a wide scope of clinical practice in Indigenous health while working closely within a supportive team of friendly staff. This position is an exciting opportunity for anyone passionate about primary health care.
As part of the medical team in Fitzroy Valley, remote community visits are part of your week. Many find this opportunity a mixture of exciting, satisfying and challenging.
Regardless of expectations, these medical visits are essential to the health and well-being of the people of the Fitzroy Valley.
Fitzroy Crossing town comprises less than half the population of the Valley. The remainder is spread around surrounding communities.
Communities are often based on family groups or language groups. There are four language groups in the Valley.
Bunaba (traditional owners), Gooniyandi (river people), Wangkatjunka & Walmarjarri (desert people). The population throughout is very transient but greatly assisted by computerised medical records (Communicare).
